Over 40 miniature artworks will be available for purchase at the Festival of Arts “Open House” Silent Auction on Saturday, July 30 from 1-4pm. Festival artists, staff and volunteers were given small wooden houses to customize as they pleased, resulting in a collection of houses that reflect each individual’s personality and artistic style.

“This project is so much fun! It’s a way for artists to “collaborate” but still be able to demonstrate their individual style,” said Vinita Voogd who is coordinating this year’s silent auction. “As an artist, I love the challenge to think out of the box! For many 2D artists working on canvas, board or paper…to complete this ‘house’ is a new creative experience…one must think in 3D! The artists have made such beautiful houses, their creativity never ceases to amaze me!”

Jordan Dimitrov, known for re-creating the look of aged and weathered materials on his ships, used his talent to transform his house into a plane entitled “Fly Me to the Moon.” First year Festival exhibitor Linda Karagozian, titled her piece “Chicken House,” painting portraits of her own chickens on the sides of the house.

Additional participating artists include Stephanie Alexander, Carol Boller, Linda Brandi, Tim Brown, Hedy Buzan, Judith Cameron, Mary Church, Catharine Cooper, Susan Cox, Bill Denham, Dennis Dunton, Brian Giberson, Jeffrey Frisch, Betty Haight, Molly Hutchings, Mariko Ishii, Susan Jarecky, Kathy Jones, Mada Leach, Jessica Lopez, Brandon Medrano, Geri Medway, Jacquie Moffett, Scott Moore, Varsha Patel, Dana Running, Yoonsook Ryang, Sherry Salito-Forsen, Gerald Schwartz, Michael Situ, Judy Stamm, Melissa Stultz, Tom Swimm, Noriho Uriu, Vinita Voogd, Loyd Walter, Michael Ward and Dennis Zervas.

Last year, over $5,000 was raised for the Festival’s Building Fund. This year’s silent auction will be held on the Festival of Arts grounds starting at 1pm with a last call for bids at 4pm. Winners must be present at 4pm to claim auction item.
