Broadway’s Biggest Celebration Comes To Segerstrom Plaza – June 9

Date:

The best way to celebrate theater is at the theater! Revel in all things Broadway on Sunday, June 9 at our second annual Tony Awards viewing party on the Center’s Julianne and George Argyros Plaza!

While James Cordon may be hosting in New York, we’ve got our own Broadway talent joining us in Orange County. Original Broadway cast member of The Book of Mormon and current Orange County School of the Arts Director of Musical Theater Scott Barnhardt will serve as emcee for the evening and will give you an insider’s guide to The Great White Way. “As a self-proclaimed and life-long “Theatre Nerd”, the night of The Tony Awards is my FAVORITE NIGHT OF THE YEAR! June 9th can’t come soon enough! I can think of no better way to celebrate Broadway’s Greatest Night than with new friends at Segerstrom under the stars at the glorious Argyros Plaza!”

At 7 PM, set up your picnic blankets and chairs and let the entertainment begin with live musical performances from South Coast Repertory. Enjoy fun activities and giveaways, including the chance to win a pair of tickets to a Broadway show at the Center! Then tune in with us at 8 PM to watch the entire broadcast of Broadway’s biggest night on the largest outdoor screen in Orange County!

During the show, enjoy snacks and specialty drinks from George’s Café and fill out your Broadway Bingo card for a special prize. The night would not be complete without a red carpet and a photo opportunity with South Coast Repertory’s very own Tony Award!

Who do you think will win? Hadestown received 14 nominations, the most of any production of the season, followed by Ain’t Too Proud with 12, and Tootsie with 11. The plays The Ferryman and To Kill a Mockingbird each received nine nominations.

Enjoy more of the best of Broadway here at the Center.
