RACHEL’S CHALLENGE EVENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS & PARENTS

On Wednesday, March 24, the City of Mission Viejo’ Community of Character Committee, in conjunction with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, is hosting Rachel’s Challenge for all middle and high school students. Students and parents are encouraged to attend this impactful presentation about Rachel Scott and her legacy for treating others with caring and kindness. After her untimely death in the Columbine tragedy, her family found several journals and artwork that identify her as a young person who truly wanted to make a difference in the lives of others.

Using these writings, Rachel’s Challenge speaks to youth in a manner in which they can identify with. Her messages include eliminating prejudice, goal setting and being kind to others. The program has reached millions across the nation and world for changes in behavior toward others. One of Rachel’s most famous essay invites the reader to perform and act of kindness, and in so doing start a chain reaction.

This program is being offered with hopes of “filling the room” of 600 attendees to start, and continue, the Chain Reaction here in our Mission Viejo, a Community of Character. The program will be March 24 at 7:00pm, at the Norman Murray Community Center. For more information or to RSVP please call Police Services at (949) 470-8433.
Because the message is so important, we will provide 2 hour credit slips for community service hours.
