PTA Volunteers Needed: We need some help with PTA.  Please contact Trina Jonas at trinajonas@gmail.com, if you are interested in volunteering for any of the following positions.
Holiday Boutique Chair- This person would help coordinate the 2 day boutique held December 19 and 20.  We have lots of helpers but need someone to coordinate it. Grant Writer- We have several Grants our school can apply for to help fund several important programs the PTA supports.  If you have any experience with Grant Writing and have a little time to help, we would greatly appreciate it. CPA Help- We need a current CPA to help the PTA with some of the end of year taxes.  If you can volunteer your time with this, it would be greatly appreciated!
Fall Festival Volunteers Needed: Fall Festival is coming November 15 from 5-8pm back on the back playground.  The entire community is invited and it is so much fun!  We have tons of fun carnival games and attractions for the whole family.  Each class at our school will host 1 of the booths.  Your Room Representatives will be contacting you to help volunteer with your class booth! Please sign up with your classroom rep!   Besides the class booth, we need some additional volunteers to help with the PTA Food Booth!  We will be selling hamburgers, and hot dogs in a meal with chips, drink, and a cookie.  We have sign ups available to help Grill (come on Dads!!) and to help serve the food.  We also need a few people to help setup and clean up at the end of the night.  If you are interested, please sign up online using VolunteerSpot

We are still collecting artwork for our cover contest for the PTA student directory. The theme for this year is "Bulldogs do better when they work together". Have your students create artwork on an 8.5x11 paper and turn it into the office with their name, grade and teacher on the back. We will make our best effort to include all artwork in the directory. Deadline for entries is Friday, October 18th. Questions? Contact Courtney Fielder at cfielder1@att.net
We have extended the deadline for turning in business ads to be published in our student directory to Friday, October 18th. Forms can be found in the office. This also goes for ordering a directory. Questions? Contact Courtney Fielder at cfielder1@att.net
ROOM REPRESENTATIVES: Thank you for volunteering your time to your child's classroom.  A room rep meeting is being scheduled for next week.  Please send Cindy Behrens, PTA Room Rep Coordinator, your contact information so she can give you the details on the meeting.   Send your email to Cindy at Sindoeun@yahoo.com.  Thank You!
EVITA ON DECEMBER 22: A few times per year we get a block of discounted tickets to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.  Currently, we have a block of 75 seats in the back of the Orchestra section for the Broadway production of Evita on December 22 at 1 pm.  This education discount ticket is $36 per ticket (regularly $80).  Purchase tickets by sending a check to school for the number of tickets that you want with your child’s name and teacher in the memo line and check made out to “SCFTA”.  This is not a fundraiser – just an opportunity to experience the arts in our community.  A description of the show from the SCFTA website: http://scfta.org/home/Events/EventDetail.aspx?EventID=1423 Once the 75 tickets are gone, we usually can’t get more at this price. The deadline is November 1.
PTA ONLINE STORE: Great news! The PTA Online store is up and running! Order Spirit Wear, Pay for Memberships, Make a Donation all online with your credit card via PayPal. Online purchases are subject to a small fee to cover the cost of using PayPal. https://bergesonptastore.myschoolcentral.com/
PTA MEMBERSHIP: We’re in the middle of our PTA membership drive and you’ve probably seen the class competition chart on the wall by the library.  We’re hoping for 100% membership; it’s the best bargain in town!  For your $10 membership, your children receive the Science Lab hands-on science experience, Imagination Celebration Writing Assemblies, Art Masters Visual Art Program and $200 of instructional supplies for their classroom, in addition to other things.  Please join the PTA and help provide these special programs for all children.  You don’t need to go to meetings, although we love seeing anyone who would like to attend.  Mrs. Kathy Bennett’s class was the first place winner and went to TGIFridays this week.  Who will be 2nd and 3rd place? It’s a close race!
180 CLUB – BERGESON FOUNDATION: Would you consider spending $1 per day for each day that your child is in school?  For $180 per year, we can provide weekly music lessons for grades K – 3, Reading Instructional Aides to lower the class sizes during a 45 minute block of reading each day, computers for classrooms and the computer lab, professional development trainings for teachers, learning software for the computer labs and much more.  Please consider making this donation by making a one-time donation or 9 monthly payments of $20.  We appreciate your support of our children.
After week 1 of our first Box Top drive, the classes turning in the most valid Box Tops for Education are Paine, Gray and Mainprize/Young.  So far we have  over 3,000 Box Tops!  Turn more in to your child's classroom or label with teacher's name and place in the red cardboard schoolhouse in the front office. The competition runs through Oct 25.  Each one is worth 10 cents, but there are many opportunities for bonus tops.
