Saddleback United Soccer Club was established in 2006 by Joy Fawcett to create a unique soccer environment that combines excellent soccer training and a commitment to positive coaching. Ultimately, we believe that in order to enable players to reach their full potential in soccer, we must help them develop a solid foundation that comes from personal character, relationships, excellent soccer fundamentals, understanding of the mental aspects of the game and most importantly a true love for the game of soccer.
In our opinion, youth soccer is not about winning games or championships. Rather it is about using the game to teach our kids some of the skills necessary to be successful in life. For us, winning is not an objective. Winning is a result that comes from innate athleticism, training, teamwork, self-discipline, self-motivation and a strong desire to compete. Our focus is to help top-level athletes developed these skills so that they are more successful both on the pitch and off. More info: info@saddlebacunited.org,

The 5th graders will begin walking back to CV about 1:15.

Copies of the Fifth Grade DVD shown at during the ceremony will be on sale in the quad. Each DVD is $10 and all the proceeds go towards the science camp fund for next year.
COMPOSTING IN THE CVES GARDEN
The students of CVES have begun composting fruit and vegetable peelings left over from their lunches. We applaud the efforts of the community to enrich the soil by composting food waste in our composter, as well. However, the school is only prepared to compost organic material at this time. . . fruit, vegetables and coffee grounds. Other materials added to the mixture could cause the entire compost mixture to become unusable. An orange collection bucket will be placed within the garden. If you would like to help us compost, please feel free to drop your items in the orange bucket, not in the composter itself. CV students will determine appropriate materials to add. Thank you for your support in this matter.

State releases survey detailing school budget cuts
Over the last two years, $17 billion in educational budget reductions have prompted nearly 400 school districts to cut back on maintenance, class materials and critical faculty, according to a state survey released last week. In May, 387 school districts, county offices of education and charter schools answered questions from the state Department of Education about how they have balanced their budgets in light of state budget cuts. State officials wanted to know which programs, if any, were cut or eliminated in the last two school years and if staff reductions, school closures, or reduced school years were occurring as the result of funding cuts. The results of the survey are as follows:

Important Finals Week Information - Capo Valley High School
Dear Parents,
As we near our semester finals next week (see schedules below), our faculty and I would like to ask for your cooperation and assistance regarding one important area: Each semester, we have a consistent problem with hundreds of students either “texting” or calling their parent(s) as soon as they complete a final exam in order to ask their parent(s) to call school and excuse them early from class, rather than the student having to wait until the end of the final period. (In fact, our Campus Supervisors have found that many students will ask to use the restroom during the final exam in part so that they can contact their parents by cell phone for just this reason.)
While we understand that some students will quite naturally finish their final exams earlier than others, and that they would therefore prefer to be excused as opposed to having to wait until the end of the period, this issue has become an increasing concern. As you can well imagine, with nearly 3,000 students, this practice can cause continuous disruptions to those still testing if other students are constantly being called out and released early during the testing period.
Here is what we are asking you to do to assist us with this issue:
1. Please inform your students that they are NOT to call or text you during final exam hours to request that you excuse them early from a final exam period – even if they have completed their exam. Instead, advise your student to remain quietly in the exam room and spend his/her extra time either studying for their next final exam or reading.
2. If you absolutely must have your student released early during an exam period for an already-scheduled appointment, please make sure that he/she goes to the attendance office prior to the start of the final exam period to obtain a release slip before the start of the final. We cannot disrupt final exams by sending call slips or telephoning classrooms during final exam periods. We want each student to be able to give a best effort on final exams, and in this way, there will be much less of a disruption to those in the classroom who are still testing.
Thank you for your help and assistance. Below is a summary of our finals schedules for next week:

Vacation Bible School Helps Students Find God In Their Daily Lives - July 26-30
(Laguna Niguel, CA) - "Where in the World is God?" is the theme for the sixth annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) hosted by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Laguna Niguel in their Sunday School. Open to the entire community, this year's VBS will be July 26-30.
This year's theme is based on a passage from Luke, "Some Pharisees asked Jesus when God's kingdom would come. He answered, "God's kingdom isn't something you can see. There is no use saying, `Look! Here it is' or `Look! There it is.' God's kingdom is here with you." (Contemporary English Version)
"Every day our students will hear about Bible characters in reference to the theme as it applies to their lives at home, school, activities and the environment," explains Anne Cooling, VBS Director, "and then we plan activities to help teach what the Bible stories mean through singing, crafts and games. Snacks and fellowship are also always a big success with the children."
Registration forms are available in the Christian Science Reading Room, located on the church property at 29012 Aloma Avenue, Laguna Niguel or online at the church's website, www.cschurchln.org. The school caters to young children, ages 3 1/2 to sixth grade, with older children encouraged to be Junior Leaders. Each session runs from 9am through noon.
"Every year, we feel so blessed with all the good that comes from this experience," added Cooling. "Our Mission Statement says it all, 'To provide an annual opportunity for the children in our community to learn the joyous spiritual application of the Bible'."

Food Items Immediately Needed At South County Outreach - CVES COMMUNITY
SOUTH COUNTY OUTREACH NEEDS SUPPORT FROM THE CVES COMMUNITY
The South County Outreach is running dangerously low on food items has requested help from the Crown Valley community. The financial crisis within Orange County has caused record numbers of families to request food from this worthwhile organization; at the same time donations are at all time lows.
Hence, the Crown Valley PTA, along with Crown Valley Cares, has set aside June 14-18 for a Food Drive. Any non-perishable food item is needed, but especially: canned meat, tuna, fruit & vegetables, peanut butter, cold cereal and macaroni & cheese. Collection bins will be available next week in front of the school and we will also be collecting at the Sock Hop on Friday, June 18.
Thank you for your continued support of our community members!
