Jacki Scott Begins New Role as Laguna Niguel’s Public Works Director/City Engineer

Date:

Friday, August 17, 2018, marked the first day for Jacki Scott in her
new position as Public Works Director/City Engineer for the City of Laguna Niguel. City Manager Kristine Ridge selected Jacki Scott at the conclusion of a highly competitive recruitment.

The prior director, Nasser Abbaszadeh, retired in June. “I’m excited for Jacki to join our City team. Her technical knowledge and broad range of experience in both the public and private sector will bring immense value to the City,” said City Manager Ridge.

The Public Works Director/City Engineer is charged with full management responsibilities for all Public Works Department services, including engineering and public streets, landscape and facilities maintenance operations. Jacki is uniquely poised to assume the top leadership position in Public Works with over 18 years of experience as a Registered Civil Engineer and Registered Traffic Engineer. She joins the City at a critical time as the City’s largest construction project in its history begins at Crown Valley Park this same
week.

Jacki is known for her technical abilities, straightforward management approach and solid record of achievement of completing projects on time and within budget guidelines. She is both a registered Traffic Engineer and Professional Engineer.

Jacki has extensive knowledge and direct management experience over capital projects, traffic engineering and operations, facility management, maintenance, land development and entitlements, and staff organization. She places a high value on excellent customer service.

Jacki comes to Laguna Niguel from the City of Orange where she serves as
Transportation Manager/City Traffic Engineer. During her years at the City of Orange, she not only managed her staff team in addressing a broad range of traffic-related matters and parking coalitions but also oversaw a number of capital improvement projects, including a $26 Million parking structure project in Old Towne Orange.

Prior to working for the City of Orange, Jacki worked at the City of Irvine and the City of Yorba Linda, managing their engineering divisions. She also worked for the private sector engineering firms of Berryman & Henigar and Norris Repke Inc., providing contract engineering services to the cities of Los Alamitos, Rancho Santa Margarita, Hawaiian Gardens, Buena Park and Yucca Valley.

Jacki Scott received her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University and a Master degree in Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach.
