Laza, an 8-year sheriff’s veteran, has earned the respect of supervisors, peers and the public alike since he began serving this community in May of 2014. He is a seasoned deputy who is responsible for training newly assigned deputies in Aliso Viejo. His proactive work over the years has led to the apprehension of suspects in shootings, burglaries and robberies.
Laza is praised by the department for being a “well-rounded” and efficient deputy who has the innate ability to stay calm under pressure.
“Jason is quiet, confident and competent and is considered a leader and mentor among his peers,” said Lt. John MacPherson, chief of Aliso Viejo Police Services. “When critical incidents occur, our supervisors can count on Jason to ensure policies are followed and sound tactics are employed. As a training officer, Jason is low-key and facilitates a learning environment. He is a true asset to our department.”
The City Council will recognize Laza in early 2017.
