PASSING OF THE HONORABLE JERRY McCLOSKEY – City of Laguna Niguel Former Mayor and Council Member

Council Member Jerry McCloskey was elected to the City Council on November 6, 2012 and served as Mayor in 2015. Prior to his election, Council Member McCloskey served on the City’s Investment, Banking & Audit Committee and the Laguna Niguel Military Support Committee. He also served on the Board of Director’s for the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA).

His service to the community has spanned many decades through his active involvement in several service organizations. Council Member McCloskey is a member of the Laguna Niguel Rotary Club where he served as President in 2000 and 2010. He is also a member of the Laguna Niguel Lions Club, a Founding Director and Treasurer of the Laguna Niguel Historical Society, Laguna Niguel Military Support Foundation and American Legion Post 281. He currently served as President of the Orange County Watershed and Environmental Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on educating school children and adults about our local watershed and other environmental matters. He was also a supporter of the Laguna Niguel Botanical Preserve.

In 2005, Council Member McCloskey was honored for his service to the community with the Laguna Niguel Citizen of the Year Award.

He will truly be missed and our hearts are very heavy with sadness,” said Laguna Niguel Mayor Laurie Davies.
