The Department of Theatre Arts at Saddleback College presents Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. Bradbury himself adapted his dystopian novel, regarded as one of his best works , into this important play. The title refers to the temperature that Bradbury asserted to be the temperature at which paper ignites.

This futuristic drama is about the inner struggle of Guy Montag, a fireman, who has worked as a civil servant for 10 years burning books. Directed by Olivia Trevino, with set design by Ev Stanton, this powerful story is told through projections of a series of modern artists from the colorful pop world of Roy Lichtenstein and onto Piet Mondrain’s solid blocks of color and finally melting literally into the blacks and whites and grays of Mark Rothko.
Audiences will not only enjoy this unique interpretation through the acting skills of our talented students but also the visual projections on massive media screens that engulf the audience. The imagery modeled off of amazing modern painters and the exquisite lighting design will surely transport our 21st Century audience into Bradbury’s futuristic world.
