The Festival of Arts – California’s Premier Fine Art Show opens July 3rd, 2011 for what promises to be its most exciting season yet. As California’s longest running outdoor fine art show and one of the nation’s most highly acclaimed and attended juried exhibitions, visitors and art connoisseurs expect to find the highest echelon of art and artists at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts. Recently featured on the Travel Channel as “Best Arts Festival,” art connoisseurs have the opportunity to purchase diverse treasures, including paintings, sculpture, printmaking, photography, ceramics, jewelry and furniture by exhibiting artists, which in 2011 will number 140.

While the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts is long-standing, it constantly evolves. Every day and every evening of the 2011 calendar represents a new opportunity for visitors to be entertained and delighted. Special art-related attractions and special events such as nightly live music (including jazz concerts), wine and chocolate pairings, guided art tours and art workshops throughout the eight-week run provide something fun and interesting for everyone. Unique one-time events will prove especially exciting in 2011, including celebrity meet-and-greets, the increasingly popular Festival Runway Fashion Show and the Acura Celebrity Event, which will welcome Richard Marx as a special guest performer.

“Many have come to see the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach as a summertime tradition,” said Festival of Arts Marketing and Public Relations Director, Sharbie Higuchi. “I think that’s because they know that the Festival will always be a place to find outstanding artwork, and with music nightly and special events daily, it’s a beautiful and memorable destination for everyone.”

The caliber of work on exhibit at the Festival each year attracts buyers and collectors at all levels of connoisseurship, showcasing the finest original art from the coastal cities of Orange County and covering a complete spectrum of art media. Many Festival artists have their work in the private collections of leading art collectors, celebrities and museums around the world.

“The Festival is the perfect place to find affordable and unique art for your home or business, and with many new artists and new works by returning exhibitors, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss in 2011,” said Higuchi.

Free art tours are held Monday-Friday at 11 am and 3 pm and Saturday and Sunday at       11 am and 4 pm. THE LAGUNA BEACH FESTIVAL OF ARTS HELPS VISITORS YOUNG AND OLD DISCOVER THEIR INNER ARTIST IN 2011

Hands-on art workshops and demonstrations will be a highlight this summer at the Festival of Arts July 3 – August 31, 2011

Everyone has a little bit of art in them, and this summer The Festival of Arts – California’s Premier Fine Art Show will help tens of thousands of visitors young and old to find it! Adults and kids alike will enjoy workshops in printmaking, ceramics and mixed media, as well as artist demonstrations and art tours throughout the entire 2011 season (July 3 through August 31). These arts education events and workshops are opportunities for the Festival to encourage and promote the appreciation of art, and they give visitors a chance to get creative and take away a piece of self-made art as a special Festival of Arts keepsake.

“The Festival of Arts has supported art education since its inception over 78 years ago,” said Festival of Arts President Fred Sattler. “We’re really excited to provide a place for not only professional artists to display their work, but also for visitors to get their own creative juices flowing.”

And creative juices will flow at the newly situated Festival Art Center, located at the east side of the Festival Green, where all workshops (including printmaking, ceramics, and mixed media) have been centralized to allow visitors the best access to instructors and fellow budding artists. Through the arts education events and workshops, The Festival of Arts offers something for everyone!

Youth Arts Education Days – Festival artists will share some of their creative techniques in a fun and friendly environment at the Youth Arts Education Days, every weekday (Monday through Friday) from July 5 through August 31, 11am-12pm. Classes are held daily from 11am to 8pm.  Groups of six or more should call (949) 464-4234 to reserve space in advance. These fun, general art workshop activities are free with Festival of Arts admission ($7).

The Festival’s most skilled printmakers will demonstrate relief, monoprint, and reductive printmaking techniques–giving visitors an interesting and informative look into the creative art process. Patrons can stop by the printmaking booth daily, July 3-August 31, between 11am-8pm to create their own print. *On July 3 and 4, workshop closes at 5pm.

RAKU Ceramic Workshop – Paint a pot using the Japanese Raku ceramic glazing technique! Characteristics of this style are the random crackle and opalescence of the glaze and the blackened surface of the unglazed surface of the clay. Each piece is where fire, earth and chance merge, so each piece is one-of-a-kind! The kanji character for the term, RAKU, literally means “enjoyment” or “ease.” This hands-on activity is held daily during the summer from 11am to 8pm and there is a minimal material fee of $15.00 (and up) per ceramic pot.

Art Talks – Whether you’re an informed connoisseur or an amateur collector, if you’re an art lover, Art Talks on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Festival of Arts are for you!
