Mission Viejo, Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler Dave McLeod welcomed the twenty-two (22) July initiates. The Lodge membership is now over eleven-hundred (1100).
McLeod commented on the impressive growth of the Lodge saying, “This month’s class makes a total of ninety-five (95) new members in the past four months. We are thrilled to see so many young men and women joining us.” McLeod was quick to add, “We’re not stressing the addition of new members for any reason except for the fact that new members bring us additional people to share in the charitable work we can do. Today, our members have more time to enjoy the sociability aspects of the Lodge and no one member is overburdened when our work is divided among more people.”
An upcoming Elks event will be “The Gold Star Mothers” luncheon at the Lodge on Aug. 20th. The luncheon is put on and the Lodge Veteran’s committee and funded by the Charity committee. On Sept 10th members will travel to Tustin to host a “Party in the Park” at the Orange County Rescue Mission for the Mission’s residents and their children.
Elks volunteers will man the booths & kitchen as they hold a carnival complete with Games, prizes, cotton-candy, bounce-house, petting zoo, sno-cones, hamburgers and much more. The funds will be provided by the MV Elks Charitable committee (Bingo) and an Elks National Foundation Promise Grant.
