On Sunday, October 18th at 2:30 p.m. in the McKinney Theatre, Reflections of the Ocean Classical Keyboard Series presents a piano recital with Ukrainian-American pianist Natalya Shkoda, one of today’s most dynamic young artists, master teachers, and competition adjudicators.

Praised by critics for her “impressive pianistic range” (International Piano), “bold and rich sound” (American Record Guide), “full command of her piano” (Classical Music Guide) and “brilliant piano technique and depth of artistic interpretation” (Ukrainian Weekly), Ukrainian-American pianist Natalya Shkoda is one of today’s most dynamic young artists and master teachers. Since presenting her first solo recital and winning the National Young Composers’ Competition in Kiev, Ukraine, at the age 13, Natalya Shkoda performed over 300 solo, accompanying and chamber music recitals in Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, France, and the U.S.A. She appeared as a soloist with the orchestras nationwide including MasterWorks Symphony, Southwest Symphony, Paradise Symphony and North State Symphony. Her performances and compositions were widely broadcast on three continents, in Australia, Belgium, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, U.K., Ukraine and the U.S.A.
As an artist and clinician, Dr. Shkoda regularly presents recitals and master classes and adjudicates piano competitions. She was the invited Concert Artist and Clinician at the 2009 Arizona State Music Teachers’ Association Conference in Phoenix. Her recent performances included recitals and workshops at Ukrainian Institute of America in New York City, Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art in Chicago, Washington Group Cultural Fund Recital Series, Abiquiu Chamber Music Festival, ASU, CSU, Chico, CSU, Sacramento, CSUSF, State University of NY at New Paltz, University of San Diego, Crocker Art Museum, Music Teachers Association of CA. Dr. Shkoda is an Associate Professor of Piano and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at California State University, Chico. She is also an Artistic Director of the Earl R. and Marilyn Ann Kruschke Prize in Piano Performance Competition. Under Dr. Shkoda’s guidance, twenty seven pianists became the prize winners of solo and concerto competitions since 2001.
