The Santa Margarita Water District on January 12 will host an informational community meeting and open house regarding a multi-phased Recycled Water Expansion Project.
The meeting is from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 26111 Antonio Parkway.
Santa Margarita Water District is undertaking the Califia Recycled Water Conversion Project to increase the amount of recycled water used for local irrigation. By using more recycled water, the district will save imported drinking water for household consumption. The district will build a new recycled water distribution system for irrigation in the Califia area of Mission Viejo off Felipe and Oso Parkway. About 4.5 miles of recycled water pipeline will be constructed beneath the roadways. (More detailed information is available here.)
The January 12 open house will cover the key components of a recycled water project; benefits and safety of recycled water systems; phases of the project; and impacts and benefits to neighborhoods as well as construction schedules.
