Never too early to start talking turkey, particularly for a good cause

It’s never too early to start talking turkey, particularly when it’s for a good cause.
Individuals, clubs, associations and others are sought to signup now to volunteer during the .
A huge spike in the need for food has pushed the food bank to expand programs this summer – but the effort may be too little to keep up with demand. Second Harvest, which serves 415 pantries, has experienced a 32-percent increase in clients in recent months.
Organizers of the Dana Point Turkey Trot hope to raise between $30,000 to $50,000 to benefit the food bank.
Volunteers are sought to help in an array of fun positions Nov. 26 during the Thanksgiving Day event, which is expected to attract nearly 11,000 participants. America’s Thanksgiving Day run – the Dana Point Turkey Trot 5K and 10K run/walk – is one of the largest events in the nation, attracting participants from around the globe for a scenic coastal run along the Dana Point Harbor.
Volunteers receive a race T-shirt and refreshments and are invited to attend the “Finish Line Festival.”
People can feel good about participating in a fun and worthwhile event.
