8th Grade Band Night
Sept. 24th, 2010
This is a mandatory concert for all 8th graders in band & optional for 8th grade orchestra members interested in HS Marching Band. We will be attending the Capo Valley Band Night regardless of future high school attendance. The high schools are fairly similar and the students will have fun regardless while learning more about HS and the music program.
In order for the students to play on the field, it is highly recommended that they use a music lyre and flip folder, except percussion and orchestra members who won’t need one. (Percussion & orchestra members will be improvising throughout the night so need for music.) We have a set here at school that students can borrow for the night or if you want to purchase one, you may go to your local store.
What to Wear:
Wear your field trip outfit. That consists of your Hankey K-8 School T-shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes. Make sure to bring a jacket or sweatshirt! It gets really cold during the game!
Schedule:
3:50pm – Arrive at CVHS. Look for students/adults directing you to the field off the lower parking lot.
4:00 – Rehearsal promptly starts – Instruments out!
5:30 – Pizza Dinner
6:15 – Meet at Band Room to Walk to Field Together
6:20 – Walk to Football Field
6:45 – Perform Pre-show
7:00 – Game Starts (Perform during game in the bleachers)
8:30 – HS band performs their half-time show as we watch
8:45 – Go with HS Director up to the band room
9:00pm – Parents Pick-up from Band Room (Band room is located at the top of the stairs located off the lower parking lot.)
What to Bring:
Instrument, any music that we may have given you for that night, instrument supplies, a jacket and any extra snacks you may want. The HS is providing a pizza dinner but some of you are larger consumers of food may want to bring something extra.
