Bicycling our way to health, happiness and an abundant Wine and Food Festival…
As mentioned above our 2009 Wine and Food Festival is fast approaching on the weekend of October 3-4, and will again feature a two-part event: The BIG Saturday event of live music, great food and limitless wine and martinis….followed by the Sunday experience of premier local restaurants offering their FABULOUS food for RECSSION-friendly prices. Another nifty adaptation for this year is the ‘Family of Bikes’ RAFFLE. For a reduced price of only $30 per ticket you have the opportunity to win the entire ‘FAMILY’ of bicycles on display outside the Grand Hall (yep, all of them!)…or select up to $1500 worth of merchandise from ‘Buy My Bikes’ of San Juan Capistrano.
Environmentally friendly and obviously gas-efficient, bikes for local touring with exercise for the whole family can be yours…but of course you need to purchase a raffle ticket. Tickets will go on sale NEXT weekend and will continue to be sold right up to the drawing on Saturday evening, October 3rd. (Please note that the winner of the drawing will be responsible for immediately paying Corpus Christi the necessary IRS taxes of $420 prior to taking possession of the bikes or merchandise.)
Our PARISH ‘FINANCIAL SUMMIT is just around the corner, September 10th…
In response to the economic upheavals and uncertainties being experienced by a large number of our parishioners, last Spring Corpus Christi began planning for a SPECIAL ‘Economic Info Night for People Who Don’t Know Everything’. So…mark your calendars for the evening of Thursday, September 10, from 6:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. when Corpus Christi and Farmers & Merchants Bank are teaming up to present a ‘Financial Summit’ featuring a series of presentations/sessions on issues of importance to the average parishioner.
Topics to be covered include: Property, casualty and liability insurance; Health disability, long term care insurance and COBRA strategies, Life insurance, Estate Planning, documents (wills, trusts, POA), Incapacity planning, Gifting strategies, Mortgage Strategies, Reverse Mortgages, Delinquency and Foreclosure options, Debt management, Survival techniques in an economy gone bad…and planning for special circumstance (job loss, divorce, special needs, etc.) Speakers have been drawn from a wide pool….and are NOT allowed to only promote themselves…but can include their names on a LIST of potential resources in each of the listed categories. The ‘Financial Summit’ is being offered FREE of charge to Corpus Christi parishioners….BUT advance reservations are needed so that adequate space and food can be prepared. Good Shepherd Childcare will be available for $5 per child. The evening will include a light buffet of appetizers and refreshments. Reservation forms are available on the Concierge Shelves.. Thanks!
