Thank you Judd Binley for taking the time to work with the physical education department and our parent volunteers to organize our annual Turkey Trot. We appreciate all the time and effort you contributed to this special event — buying t-shirts, prizes, and working with Hiedi Reiser to organize our wonderful parent volunteers. This year’s Trot was a huge success. Thanks and congratulations for always going above and beyond the call of duty to support our students.
NEW DELL LIBRARY LAB
Thank you to our wonderful PTSA, ASB, and PE Club for purchasing 21 new computers for our library lab. Also a special thank you to several parents who, in conjunction with their employers, were able to bring in matching contributions. It will be up and running this month for students before school, during lunch, and after school. Many of our teachers use this lab to conduct research with their students. Our goal is to have 36 total computers in our library lab. Each computer costs approximately $860. If you are interested in helping us reach our goal and would like to donate money, please submit checks to our PTSA. Individuals who pledge $860 will have a donation plaque attached to one of the new computers. Thank you all again for your generous support of our school.

RECYCLE WEDNESDAYS
Congratulations, DJAMS! With your donations, PAL and ASB were able to fill our recycling bin to the top with plastic and aluminum products. That means more funds for education and our students! Remember, keep recycling around campus and at home, bring plastic and aluminum to DJAMS, and work together to fill the bin even quicker this time! Well done, Broncos.
***Reminder: All plastic and aluminum containers must be marked with the CA CRV Recycle symbol to be accepted. Please place recyclable materials in clear or white plastic bags, separating plastic from aluminum. Thanks!

CLOSETS FOR CAPO
Do you have clothes, shoes, backpacks, and handbags that you no longer use and are taking up closet space? Wouldn’t it be great if you could donate them and raise money to benefit CUSD students at the same time? Well, you can! A pick-up date is scheduled for April 29, 2010, with the only company that pays for used clothing. Start saving your items now!
Place all donations in black trash bags and bring them to the CUSD District building on April 29th or contact Linda Wright at the email below to schedule an earlier drop off. One Niguel Hills Middle School parent and her daughters have already donated over 15 bags full of items! Garage sale leftovers, neighbors, and friends were helpful in their efforts.

Projects will be on display in the MPR until February 10. Judging will take place that week, and those projects of highest merit will be sent to the Orange County competition on March 13.
County Competition Judges: The Orange County Department of Education seeks parent volunteers to judge projects. This year’s training session takes place on March 3 from 4:30 to 7 pm. Interested? Contact Cindy Salisbury at csalisbury@ocde.us.
