SUMMER SCHOOL OPTIONS AND PROCEDURES FOR 2010 – CUSD

Summer school applications are available for students who have received a D or F in one of the available classes. Below you will find information how to enroll in summer school. As you can see there are many different options so please read carefully. You may download the applications and bring them into the guidance office immediately.

SUMMER SCHOOL OPTIONS AND PROCEDURES FOR 2010

There are currently 5 different options for summer school during the summer of 2010. Below is an accounting of those options, the students who would be best served by each option, and how to enroll in each of them. Students may not enroll in more than one of the following programs.

San Juan Hills High School – CUSD run summer school taught by CUSD teachers
When: June 28th – August 5th : Monday through Thursday 7:45am to 1:30pm
Eligibility: Current CUSD high school students who earned a D or F in Biology or CCP
Cost: No cost to students
Max Credits: 10

Click on registration forms. Fill out and print forms. Turn in forms to your high school academic advisor.

Pacific Coast High School – Online county run high school w/ college prep curriculum
When: July 1 – August 27: Course done online at home
Eligibility: Current CUSD high school students who earned a D or F in the following courses. Health, English, U.S. History, World History, Algebra, Geometry, Trig, Pre-Calculus
Cost: No cost to students
Max Credits: 10

click Capistrano School District, click registration forms.
Fill out and print the 15 page registration packet. Turn in to the high school academic advisor for approval and submission. Use this link to go straight to the registration page

ACCESS – Independent study county run high school w/ non college prep curriculum
When: July 1 – August 12: Course done at home, meet once a week with teacher
Eligibility: Current CUSD high school students who earned an F in English, history, science, math, or an elective. All of these courses are non college prep.
Cost: No cost to students
Max Credits: 10 credits + 5 vocational ed. w/ a job. 5 credits max. w/ math class

Fill out and print both the course request and referral form. Turn in forms to high school academic advisors for approval and submission. Once forms are submitted go to the website above and read and print the enrollment packet forms. Call ACCESS for an enrollment appointment. You will turn in the enrollment packet at ACCESS during your enrollment appointment.

Students may enroll in one of these programs in conjunction with one of the above programs:

Adult Ed./Learning Center – Independent study done on-site at the CUSD Adult Education Center in San Juan Capistrano
When: TBD
Eligibility: Students who have earned an F in English, history, science or an elective and are currently enrolled in one of the above programs. This option is a way to maximize credit recovery. All of these courses are non-college prep.
Cost: No cost to students
Max Credits: Unlimited
How to Apply: Get applications from and turn in to high school academic advisor.

Adult and Community Education Center – Online community education
When: June 28th – August 4th Courses done online at home
Eligibility: Current 8th grade students who do not have room in their fall schedule to take Health or CCP and current high school students who were unable to complete these courses during the past school year. Current high school students may combine this option with one of the above options. Students must get approval first.
Cost: $129
Max Credits: 5
