Mission Viejo, CA – Members of Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge #2444 (“Elks Lodge”) announce their sixth annual fund raising event for the benefit of Orange County Foundation for Oncology Children and Families (“OCF-OCF”).
This charity event will be held on October 30, 2010 at the Elks Lodge located in Mission Viejo at 25092 Marguerite Parkway, one block from La Paz and adjacent to Ralph’s. This year’s event will be a Masquerade Ball (costume party) with hors d’oeuvres, fabulous desserts and prizes for best costumes. Tickets for the event are $25 and may be purchased at the Elks Lodge starting October 4, 2010 or by calling Stephanie at (949) 939-3014 or Pam at (714) 336-4835.
Event organizer Stephanie Bongartz said, “Celebrities, the annual Relay for Life and other events do an outstanding job in raising money to fund cancer research. The donations from this event are provided to OCF-OCF for their World’s Greatest Camp and are also used for an annual carnival held at the Elks Lodge providing a day of fun for the children with cancer and their families.”
Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler Pat Martino said, “In the 1960’s, a diagnosis of pediatric cancer was practically a death sentence. Today, the cure rate for children with cancer is approximately 75% with some cancers achieving 90% cure rates. Our Elks Lodge attempts to provide the children fighting cancer and their families with some healing of the spirit derived from a day filled with joy and fun – free from the every day stress of fighting cancer.”
The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Elks Lodge #2444 is one of ten lodges in the Orange Coast District of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) whose headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. The BPOE is a charitable organization with a 142 year history of giving, “Elks Care, Elks Share.”
