While students may bring cell phones on campus, these devices must be turned off during class time unless approved by their teacher (including during tutorial). Other electronic devices such as IPods, MP3s, CD players, and other electronic signaling devices are prohibited on campus, including classrooms without special permission from an Assistant Principal. All of these items may be confiscated. The high school is not responsible for damage or loss of electronic devices.
Consequences
The minimum consequence for a first offense is placement at Level 1. (Levels are listed in our THS Handbook.) On the first incident, students receive a warning and may pick up their electronic device at the end of their school day at the administrative office. Consequences for continued violations are:
2nd incident: Detention assigned/parent notification. 48-hour hold of item or parent pickup.
3rd incident: Detention assigned/parent notification. 48-hour hold of item or parent pickup.
4th incident: Saturday School assigned. Behavior Contract assigned/step advancement. Parent must pick up the item.
5th incident: Behavior Contract assigned/step advancement. Item could be kept for the rest of the semester.
6th incident: One day suspension for defiance. Behavior Contract step advancement.
NOTE: Having visible access to a cell phone or other electronic device during a quiz or test will be considered a violation of the school’s Academic Integrity Policy. See the school policy (included in the THS Handbook under Academic Integrity Policy) for more detailed information.
NOTE: Students who take inappropriate photographs or videos of students, teachers or staff on school grounds are subject to disciplinary consequences. The minimum consequence for a first offense is placement at Level 3. (Levels are listed in our THS Handbook.)
