ATTENTION ALBERTSONS SHOPPERS!
PTSA is offering you the opportunity to participate in a great philanthropic program that won’t cost you a cent.  Albertsons currently has a promotion where you get FREE Rachel Ray Dinnerware by collecting reward stickers (1 sticker for every $10 spent) and then redeeming them in-store.  Since most of us are probably stocked up on this stuff, wouldn’t it be nice to collect stickers and then donate the dinnerware to Human Options (an Orange County shelter).  Please hold on to your stickers (keep ’em in a baggy) and bring them right into the administration office – there’s a yellow box on the reception table near Jodi’s desk.  Please contact Natalie or Melissa Pearl via ausra@cox.net should you have any questions.  This promotion goes on through December so we’d love to see how many we can collect by Winter Break!  Thank you kindly.
PROCEDURE FOR MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
If your child is in need of any medication while at school, please contact the health office for the required authorizations. Students are not to carry any medication, prescription or over the counter, without the required authorizations. Students who carry medications on campus without prior doctor authorization and parent permission are subject to disciplinary action.
If your child becomes ill while at school and he/she contacts you from class, tell them to ask his/her teacher for a pass to the health office so we can properly care for them and contact you for pick up. Students who become ill while at school need to be released through the health office.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR IS HERE!
The Fair is being held in Room 217, which is located in the back of the school, accessed via the black top.
Parents are invited to visit and shop any time during the Fair’s open hours.   Most students will visit with their English classes.  Others will need to visit during their lunch break.  Don’t forget to send money with your child if they plan to visit the fair.
Remaining Book Fair dates are Tuesday, October 14th – Friday, October 18th during the following hours:
Tuesday         8:30 -3:25
Wednesday   8:30 – 3:25
Thursday       9:30 – 3:25
Friday             8:30 – 1:30 (closing after lunch)
SHOP ONLINE!
Can’t make it to Book Fair?  Our Online Book Fair is open now too!
Visit the Book Fair Homepage at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/niguelhills and click on the “Shop Now” button. Online shopping is available until 10/25/12.
Remember, you can place orders online where book selection is even better!  Titles are organized by grade level and genre for your convenience.  You can even search for popular series and watch video clips for many of the popular titles.  Have your student make a wish list and send it to families for early holiday shopping!  Or, have them read about titles before visiting the fair so they know what to look for once there. It’s a great resource for both parents and students.
Benefits of Online Shopping:

  • Convenient access 24 hours a day (now through October 25th!)
  • Expanded selection for ALL ages—preschool to adult
  • Send a wish list to invite family and friends to shop
  • Search for books by category, grade, age & price
  • ALL purchases benefit our school
  • FREE shipping directly to our school and orders will be sent home with your child.  Note, all orders ship at one time so expect delivery by November 1st.
SHARK PRIDE HOURS:
We will offer a limited number of Shark Pride hours for students who wish to work during their lunch period.  We will take MAX of TWO students per lunch period.  Students may only work one shift and must sign up in advance.

BE A PART OF THE 35TH ANNUAL MOULTON BOO BLAST
Niguel Hills students have the opportunity to volunteer at the 35th Annual Boo Blast Carnival at Moulton Elementary School on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Students will receive community service hours to fulfill school service awards and/or community service graduation requirements.  Boo Blast is Moulton  PTA’s biggest fundraiser, as well as a huge community event, creating a great opportunity for your students to make a meaningful contribution to our community and public schools.

We are looking for students who can work a minimum of a two-hour shift in our game booths, food concessions, rides and other attractions.  Our Community Service Chairman oversees shifts and scheduling; and the students are directly supervised by parent volunteers on event day. Students can sign up for shifts anytime between 9am-5pm .
Please contact the Boo Blast and Community Service Chairman at shannonlharrison@gmail.com or (949)378-4217.
