Susan Ramos, who has served as Aliso Viejo’s city clerk for the past six years, will retire from her post in November.
Throughout her 25-year career, Susan has worked for seven cities. As Aliso Viejo’s city clerk, Susan has been the depository for all official documents and records. She prepares City Council agendas and administers democratic processes such as elections, access to city records and all legislative actions.
Susan, who began working for Aliso Viejo in March 2008, has accomplished much during her tenure here.
She was instrumental in the completion of the city’s Municipal Code as well as records management, making sure tons of county files that were stored in boxes were retained, cataloged and filed in a database and stored in a secure offsite records storage location. She also initiated the City’s annual document shredding/identity theft event, completing the 5th one last month.
An “Aliso Proud” resident, Susan has been a behind-the-scenes executive working with the City Council and staff to ensure transparency to the public.
“I love working with the Council and staff and serving the public,” she said. “Having worked for seven cities, I know what it can be like and I have been very blessed here.”
Leaving her position in November is bittersweet. The day after retiring Susan and her husband will pack up their car and head to Colorado to be near four of their five children, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
City Manager Dave Doyle said Susan will be missed.
“Susan has been a tremendous asset to the city of Aliso Viejo and her shoes will be tough to fill,” he said.
