FROM SONGBOOK STANDARDS AND BALLADS TO POP—
PACIFIC SYMPHONY POPS WELCOMES “AMERICAN IDOL” STAR
KATHARINE MCPHEE FOR A CONCERT THAT IS OVER THE RAINBOW!
Plus, audience to hear four “OC Can You Sing?” competition finalists perform—
and vote to determine the winner!
Katharine McPhee—the “American Idol” runner-up who amazed audiences with her heart-stirring rendition of “Over the Rainbow”—joins Pacific Symphony for a concert that is one more step on the young singer’s path to becoming a pop music superstar.
Backed by the lush melodies of a full symphony orchestra for the very first time, McPhee effortlessly crosses boundaries to deliver songbook standards, catchy pop tunes, musical theater favorites, powerful ballads and soulful blues. And speaking of “American Idol,” the first half of the evening spotlights the four finalists who competed in the Symphony’s amateur competition, “OC Can You Sing?” Audience members have the opportunity to vote during the concerts to determine the winner, who returns to perform again at a future Pops concert.
Led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, the concert takes place Thursday through Saturday, March 17-19, at 8 p.m., in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Tickets are $25-185; for more information or to purchase tickets, call (714) 755-5799 or visit www.PacificSymphony.org.
