Best Radio DJ Again!
Mission Viejo, CA – The Department of Cinema-Television-Radio (CTVR) at Saddleback College is pleased to announce that for the second year in a row, a Saddleback College student has been named “Best Radio DJ” in the National Student Production Awards, presented by College Broadcasters, Inc.
Winners and finalists were honored Saturday, October 27th at the National Student Electronic Media Convention in Atlanta.
Esmeralda Olamendi was recognized for her work on Saddleback College radio station KSBR 88.5FM. All of the other finalists in her category were from 4-year colleges.
Saddleback College student Kelly Jones was the winner of the 2011 Best DJ award. Esmeralda has become known to KSBR listeners not only for her DJ skills, but also for her interviews, which have ranged from international jazz stars such as Al Jarreau and Michael Franks to NFL star Mark Sanchez to representatives of local non-profits. “It was after my first interview that I knew this was a passion of mine I was going to pursue,” said Olamendi. “I love the challenge of being able to openly communicate with musicians, athletes and charity groups and have them share their talents and dreams and in turn help out others.”
More than 600 entries were received for the 2012 CBI national student production awards in 27 different categories.
