Calling all 6th graders!
Do you have school spirit?
Do you like being involved in school and planning activities?
The ASB/PAL Leadership class is looking for two 6th graders who are interested in joining our class!
If you are interested in joining the 2010-2011 ASB/PAL Class then here’s what you need to do:
1. Pick up an essay prompt from your Social Studies teacher today or pick up one from Mrs. Kluck (ASB/PAL Advisor) in room 604.
2. Write an essay according to the prompt and directions.
3. Turn in your essay by THIS Friday, September 17th to Mrs. Kluck’s room 604 or her box in the front office.
Once you’re essay has been turned in it will be read by Mrs. Kluck. Next, the essays are made anonymous and read by the current ASB/PAL students. Each essay is discussed and evaluated according to a rubric based on 4 criteria: experience, ability, new ideas, and following directions. The rubric results determine who is admitted into the class. All 6th graders who submit an essay will be notified of the election results by Wednesday, September 22nd.

The Magazine Sale starts this week and we hope you all will participate!
* The magazine sale is the biggest fundraiser of the year and funds student activities and rewards throughout the school year *
Important dates to remember:
TODAY (9/14): Reach out booklet collection at lunch
TOMORROW (9/15): 1st Magazine Collection Day in MPR @ 8am
Monday (9/20): 2nd Magazine Collection Day in MPR @ 8am
Remember, ask family and friends to renew their subscriptions or buy new ones with you!
PARENT VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED for both collection days beginning at 7:30am to help with the collection, prize distribution and accounting. Volunteers are needed from 7:30 until noon (at the latest). Please contact Brad Epstein, PTSA President at brad@michaelsonentertainment.com or Jane Kluck, AVMS ASB/PAL Advisor at jekluck@capousd.org if you can help for part or all of the collection days on 9/15, 9/20, and the possible bonus day on 9/23.
