AWARD WINNING AUTHOR TO SPEAK AT CAPISTRANO UNIFIED COUNCIL OF PTSAs PARENT EDUCATION NIGHT

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA, April 1, 2010 –– Psychologist Michael J. Bradley, Ed.D will be the featured speaker at a Capistrano Unified Council of PTSAs (CUCPTSA) sponsored community-wide parent education night on Wednesday, April 21, at 6:45 p.m. at The Hills Hotel (formerly The Holiday Inn), located at the 5 fwy and La Paz Rd., Laguna Hills. Bradley is the author of, Yes, Your Teen is Crazy!––Loving Your Kid Without Losing Your Mind.”

During this session, parents will learn the skills, strength and wisdom needed to successfully steer your adolescent through the difficult teenage years. Hear about the explosive growth and rewiring your teen’s brain is going through that results in their sometimes “crazy” behavior., and find out how to emerge from the teen years with your family intact!

“We are thrilled to once again host a parent education night with Dr. Bradley. When he spoke five years ago, it was to an audience of 500 attendees. Many who heard him speak last time will be returning because he is such an amazing speaker,” said Lisa Scharmann, CUCPTSA president.

Bradley is a recognized specialist in adolescent behavior and has counseled adolescents and parents for more than 30 years. He has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows, including NBC’s Today Show, CNN World News Tonight, Pure Oxygen and National Public Radio. Cost is $5.00 advance registration by April 19, and $10.00 at the door. Spanish translation will be provided. Books will be available at a discount. Registration flyers (English and Spanish) can be downloaded from www.cucptsa.com.

Capistrano Unified Council of PTSAs is composed of PTA leaders from 52 CUSD schools. The Council meets monthly to provide training and support our units and to collaborate with other agencies. CUCPTSA’s mission is to support and speak on behalf of all children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
