The Regional Center is the first stop for those in Orange County seeking to obtain local services and supports to help them live safely and with dignity in the community. RCOC serves more than 23,000 Orange County residents with developmental disabilities and their families. Developmental disabilities include autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and intellectual disabilities.
Regional Center of Orange County’s eighth annual back to school event for children with development disabilities and their siblings was made possible by Aveanna Healthcare which donated the backpacks. Pre-identified children from low-income and/or financially stressed families served by Regional Center of Orange County received backpacks with school supplies to support a solid start getting back to school.
Parents were able to talk with professionals about effective school success strategies for children with special needs, and helping children get back to healthy sleep schedules. A representative of CalOptima was also on hand to share information about the CalFresh food assistance program.
The Regional Center along with sponsor Aveanna Healthcare donated backpacks for children with development disabilities and their siblings. This annual event is presented by the Regional Center of Orange County (www.rcocdd.com), one of 21 private, nonprofit organizations contracted by the State of California to coordinate lifelong services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
