STUDENT’S RETURNING TO BERGESON? For Parents of Current Kindergarten through Grade 4 Students: The planning for the 2010/11 school year has begun. In order to establish accurate counts and be best prepared for the new school year, we need your help. If you are NOT planning on returning next year, please call our office (949) 643-1540 or email Angel Newell at adnewell@capousd.org.
BERGESON BUS
Thank you to our student council and their advisor, Mrs. Wendy Thomas who created the Bergeson Bus and modeled it after the TV show Cash Cab. Our Bergeson Bus traveled to different classrooms this week and asked the students academic questions to see who could get the correct answers. This was a tricky and fun way to prepare our 2nd – 5th graders with some practice questions for their STAR test next week and to ask Kindergarten and 1st grade students questions based on their academic content standards. Learning can be fun!
DOGS ON CAMPUS
It’s important to remind our families that dogs are not allowed on campus. On Monday, a dog nipped one of our students and broke the skin. This is exactly the reason that this rule is in effect; to protect our children. I’m quite a dog-lover with 3 Golden Retrievers at home so I understand the desire to walk our dogs while picking up the kids at school. Please understand that dogs are not allowed past the sidewalk which parallels Rancho Niguel Road which means that you will need to meet your children at the sidewalk if you’ve got the dog(s) with you. Thank you for your understanding with this important issue.

The program will be taught by Bergeson teachers and is a wonderful way to help students keep the great academic skills which they have built throughout the course of this school year. We will send a flyer home next week. The program will focus on Reading and Math. Classes will be kept small so that we can help to individualize instruction. Parents can register online at http://community-ed-capousd-ca.schoolloop.com/. Type “Bergeson” in the search bar to register. CELEBRATION BOOKS LIBRARY DONATION
Purchasing a book for the Bergeson Library is a great way to honor your child’s birthday, applaud a major accomplishment, recognize good grades or just proclaim your child as an outstanding Bergeson Bulldog. In recognition of your donation to the library, your child is recognized by Principal Scholl during the Friday morning flag salute and a “Book Plate” will be affixed to the inside cover of your book selection announcing, “This book was donated in your child’s honor!” Recognitions of book donations are presented every Friday at 7:45 am. Book Club Forms can be picked up in the office. Donating a book to the Bergeson Library is a wonderful tribute for your child that all Bergeson students can enjoy for many years. What a wonderful gift to give to grow our library.
