Blood is Meant to Circulate, Elks Pass it Around

Date:

As if fundraising wasn’t enough, now Elks’ Lodge 794 of Santa Ana, is giving blood. On June 4th they hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive at the new lodge in Santa Ana. Each pint of blood can save 3 lives. They were able to obtain 30 pints of whole blood, 4 pints of “Power Red” (a special machine is used to allow safe donation of two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning the donors’ plasma and platelets to them,) for a total of 34 pints.  This blood drive had the potential to save 51 lives.  There were 17 first time donors.

A second blood drive was held on August 11, 2020, and 31 units were collected, 36 donors were registered, there were 12 first-time donors, and up to 93 lives could be impacted by this donation.

Another blood drive is scheduled for October 20, 2020.  Anyone can donate, just call the lodge at 714-547-7794 to reserve a time, and come to the front of the Lodge at 1751 S. Lyon St., Santa Ana at the time of the appointment.

You can help save a life by donating.
