On Saturday, January 29th at 12:30 p.m., more than 50 young skaters and their families stopped by the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach to see “Basics of Skateboarding Skate Camps” owner Matt Sheridan and his crew perform a skate demo promoting the new instructional skateboarding camp offered at the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach. During the demo, six skaters wowed the crowd with awesome high flying tricks and helped the young skaters on the ramps, giving a preview into how the camps will be run. The “Basics of Skateboarding Skate Camps” are interactive camps designed to bring kids together within the community. Local skaters and skateboard instructors will help the kids develop and enhance their skateboarding skills while creating new friendships with other kids in the camp. The skate camp will start on February 5th and will run every Saturday until June 25th. Each session will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will cost $50. Space is limited so early registration is recommended. Skaters are required to bring their own skateboards, helmets, and pads along with parent permission to ride. The skate program is open to kids ages five and up.
After the skate camps are over there will be free skate sessions from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., where kids will be allowed to tear it up and ride around with the guidance of skate instructors. For more information about signing up call (949) 494-2535.x 106 or visit www.bgclagunabeach.org
