ANAHEIM PERFORMING ARTS CENTER FOUNDATION HOSTS “GREAT GATSBY WEEKEND
The Anaheim Performing Arts Center Foundation (APACF) (http://www.apacf.org) is proud to announce that Broadway star DAVID BURNHAM (“Wicked,” “The Light in the Piazza”) will join the lineup of stellar entertainment at the third annual GREAT GATSBY WEEKEND which is to be held on August 24 & 25 at Fox Pointe Manor and the Lost World Estate, the magnificent estate residences of Dr. Howard and Linda Knohl and Patrick and Jolynn Mahoney in Anaheim Hills.
DAVID BURNHAM was last seen on Broadway in the mega-hit musical “Wicked” playing Fiyero, a role that he originated in the developmental workshops of the show. He is an original Broadway cast member of the musical “The Light In The Piazza,” performing both on the Tony Awards and the PBS telecast “Live From Lincoln Center.” He is the recipient of the prestigious Helen Hayes Award for Best Actor as well as the Best Actor Garland Award for his portrayal of Fabrizio in the national tour of “The Light in the Piazza.”
David first gained critical acclaim when, after a two-year search, he was chosen to replace Donny Osmond as Joseph in the national tour of “Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” (Dramalogue Award). He toured nationally in another Andrew Lloyd Webber blockbuster playing Peter in “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Last year in New York City, he starred in the new Off-Broadway show “The Best Is Yet to Come: The Music Of Cy Coleman.” He was the voice of the Prince in the Warner Bros. animated feature “The King And I,” and can be heard on the soundtracks to “Gepetto” and “Home On The Range.” David just closed a successful run of “Sunset Boulevard” in Long Beach.
David performs with symphonies all over the country and his solo concert has been seen in the United States, Canada, and Europe. He has recorded two solo albums, his self-titled CD and “One Day.” David works extensively with kids through vocal and acting workshops and hosts a summer program for young artists called “Camp Sing.”
David joins DAMON KIRSCHE and Anaheim native and Broadway star EDEN ESPINOSA (Broadway: “Wicked,” “Rent,” “Flora the Red Menace”) as headlining entertainment for the Great Gatsby Weekend Fundraiser. Eden Espinosa was born and raised in Anaheim. She is most recognized for her portrayal of Elphaba in the Broadway production of “Wicked.” She has also performed the role of the green witch to critical acclaim in both Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Honorary Chairperson for the GREAT GATSBY WEEKEND is JOEL ZWICK. Mr. Zwick is a film, television and theater director and is best known for his work on “Perfect Strangers,” “Full House” and “Family Matters” as well as directing the theatrical films “Glory,” “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” “Second Sight” and “Fat Albert.”
After only a few years, the GREAT GATSBY WEEKEND has become one of the most fashionable and heavily anticipated fundraising events in Orange County.
Saturday: Enjoy fine wine, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction at The Lost World Estate home of Patrick and Jolynn Mahoney, followed by sumptuous dinner and stellar entertainment under the stars at Dr. Howard & Linda Knohl’s Fox Pointe Manor.
Sunday: Delight in an afternoon with a festival of wine and beer tastings, fine food from some of the best restaurants in the Anaheim area, and a unique shopping experience and blues entertainment on the Great Lawn at Fox Pointe Manor.
SAVE THE DATE! August 24 & 25, 2013. You won’t want to miss this fun-filled and exciting weekend!
