CA GOVERNOR & FIRST LADY AWARD LUNCHEON COMES TO ANAHEIM

Anaheim, CA- January 5, 2011 – Californians ranging in ages from 5 to 92, will be honored at the Governor and First Lady’s Award Luncheon & Ceremony on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Doubletree Guest Suites Anaheim Resort/Convention.
The honorees will receive a limited edition volunteer service award signed by Governor Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver. The luncheon will also include Celebrity Speaker Jeff Timmons, founder and singer of pop group sensation 98 Degrees and a California Humanitarian for Children’s Charities.

California Volunteers sponsor the Governor and First Lady’s Award program; it provides recognition to Californians who complete a minimum number of service hours. Some of the honorees include, Tom Garcia; head of the USO, Reigning Miss California International Brittney Wagner and former Ms. America Debbie Nelson. Chair and Co-Chair for the event is Anna Bryson and Susan Jeske. Bryson has spent the past two decades, serving the communities in many capacities. For the last four years, she has been the Executive Aide and Director of Program Services for the Orange County Treasurer. She is also the President of the Capistrano Unified School District Board of Education.
Susan Jeske is President of the Ms. America® Pageant; the Governor & First Lady’s Award is a partner with the Presidential Service Award that qualifies Ms. America Pageant and Jeske to certify California individuals for this prestigious award. “Many people give of their time and talent without thought of praise or recognition,” said Jeske. “They make a real difference in their community and recognizing them for their efforts is simply a way of thanking them for their commitment to service and honoring their accomplishments!”
California Volunteers is the state office that manages programs and initiatives aimed at increasing the number of Californians engaged in service and volunteering.
