Tonight is our Back-to-School night for grades 1 & 2 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Remember, this evening is for parents only, please no children! Tomorrow (Thursday, October 7th), grades 3, 4 and & 5 will enjoy their Back-to-School evening from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
REMINDER: Thursday is a MINIMUM DAY!! The schedule for the day is below:
GRADES 1 – 5: 7:45 – 11:50
EARLY BIRD KINDERGARTNERS: 7:45 – 10:28
LATE BIRD KINDERGARTNERS: 9:07 – 11:50
VOLUNTEER REMINDERS:
Once we are through Back-to-School nights, we know you are anxious to volunteer in your student’s class! We have just a few gentle reminders to keep in mind when visiting Canyon Vista!
• Please remember to park ONLY in unmarked spots. Every numbered spot that says “Staff” has been assigned to a Canyon Vista employee. Even though their spot may be open when you pull in, they may be coming to work just a short time after you, and it can be very frustrating to them to not be able to pull into their space. We appreciate your consideration of this!
• While we love ALL members of your family, please remember that younger siblings may not “help” you while you are volunteering. They are not allowed in the library, computer lab, staff workroom, pods or classrooms while you are helping the teachers. This is to keep both them and their tiny fingers safe from equipment such as paper cutters, copiers, book binders, etc.
• Remember, to volunteer directly with students in the classroom, you must be fingerprinted! You can download the volunteer forms at www.capousd.org Go to the “Parent Links” box and click on “Volunteer Information.” Once your fingerprints have been cleared (it takes approximately 2-3 weeks) you will be able to get your District ID Badge at the district office. Pictures for badges are taken on Tuesdays and Thursdays only from 1:30-4:00 p.m. To check to see if you have been cleared, please call or see Diane in the office!
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:
You may have noticed that our district calendar has changed! The new schedule for Parent/Teacher conferences is as follows:
Monday, November 1 – NO SCHOOL for students – Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday-November 2-4 – Minimum Days for conferences
Friday, November 5 – Regular schedule
Also, there will be NO after-school community education classes the week of November 1 – 5 due to conferences.
WALK TO SCHOOL DAY!
Make sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, October 21st when we will all join forces and Walk to School! More information will follow on this fun day!
