Board Considers Partnership with Aliso ViejoThe Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees will consider a joint use and funding agreement with the city of Aliso Viejo for batting cages at Aliso Niguel High School at its meeting on Monday, July 11 at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Education Center, 33122 Valle Rd., San Juan Capistrano. The city and the District have agreed to split the cost of installing lights for the ANHS batting cages in order to free up use of the batting cages at a nearby park for youth programs. The city will pay 75 percent of the $6,500 cost of the lights. In return, the District will allow community use of the lighted batting cages during non-school hours and within a schedule agreeable to the District. Other items on the agenda include: public employee appointments, detailed school calendar for the 2011-2012 school year, and the Whispering Hills Community Facilities District. Students Need Tdap Shot Before RegistrationStudents entering 7th through 12th grades this fall need an additional vaccination before they can start school. State law now requires all students entering the 7th through 12th grades in the 2011-2012 school year to have proof of a Tdap booster shot given on or after their 7th birthday. The law includes current, new, and transfer students in public and private schools. Beginning July 1, 2012, and beyond, all students entering the 7th grade will need proof of a Tdap booster shot before starting school. The Tdap booster vaccination helps prevent tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis, also known as whooping cough. The vaccination can be obtained from a family physician, at local pharmacies, or through the Orange County Health Care Agency. Health agencies are also encouraging adults to get a pertussis booster shot.-more- Foundation Hosts Taste for Education on Oct. 13Save the Date!
