Capistrano Valley High School PTSA invites you to attend ¡§Choosing the Right College,¡¨ a free college admission seminar for all Cougar parents and students grades 9-12 on Tues., Dec. 7, 6:30 pm in the ¡§Mall.¡¨
In this hands-on workshop students and parents will discover the multitude of factors that should go into their college selection decision. They will evaluate the importance of these factors, learn how to prioritize them, answer relevant questions, and be able to engage in a conversation that opens the dialogue about the importance of choosing the right college for the student¡¦s needs.

CLOROX CONTEST UPDATE:
The winning schools for the Clorox ¡§Power a Bright Future¡¨ Contest have now been posted on the contest website at powerabrightfuture.com. Unfortunately, despite Capo¡¦s seemingly large number of votes at the conclusion of the contest, we are NOT listed among the four contest winners. Apparently, a significant number of our votes were invalidated during the voting finalization audit. We have requested an explanation from Clorox and are awaiting a reply.

Financing Your Child¡¦s
College Education
with Instructor Walt Lawson
Walt Lawson worked as a Counselor at Laguna Beach High School for 30 years and for the last 15 of those years, was responsible for the Scholarship Program and Financial Aid Program.
He has continued to teach on this topic for the last 12 years through Community Education Programs.
A two-evening class that will provide detailed information on the Financial Aid Process and is especially designed for parents of seniors. The class includes a line-by-line completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form and discussion of strategies to provide financial information; the FAFSA must be completed each year of college to be eligible for Financial Aid and accurate completion the first year will make the process easier in succeeding years.
Parents of underclassmen can get an early jump on understanding the process of college financial aid by taking the class before their students are seniors. Handouts are provided and participants will organize a strategy to assess financial aid offers from colleges. Other topics include estimating a yearly college budget and accessing the six major sources of financial aid.
