Dear Parents and Students,
As many of you have heard, Capistrano Valley High School was the Grand Prize winner in the Samsung Four Seasons of Hope Essay Contest. We just wanted to take this opportunity to send out the winning essay written by Wendy Harder. The task was to create a 100 word essay. Her essay was selected to the top 21 out of thousands of submissions. The essay received over 200,000 online votes. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Setting – Public high school, 3000 students, budgets slashed.
Act 1 – 30 monitors link classrooms to share educational materials. 50 notebooks help low-income students learn computer skills for college. Laser printers allow students to experience publishing special projects.
Act 2 – Camcorders and digital cameras let students learn technique and editing. They make movies highlighting biology, language or history projects – and they remember the material because the experience is unforgettable. Blu Ray players and LCD TVs allow language classes to learn from movies in other languages…then they open the notebooks and talk to students in other countries!
Applause!
