Please join me in congratulating the following Cougar spring athletic teams on their recent CIF successes:
The Capo Valley Boys Swim Team defended their Division I CIF title from last year with back-to-back CIF Championships. The Cougars set an incredible five CVHS school records and won three events. The 4 x 100 freestyle relay, led by Spenser Goodman, Brock Redondo, Logan Redondo, and Lucas Norman won the event, shattering the school record and setting a new CIF record. This CIF record was the oldest CIF swim record on the books and was set 27 years ago in 1983. Congratulations to the entire boys program for their “3-peat” as league champs and their back-to-back win in Division I CIF.
Our Boys Tennis doubles team, led by Benjamin Hammond and Matthew Ta, will compete in CIF sectionals Friday, May 21st. The Capo Valley Boys Tennis team placed 3rd in South Coast League competition.
Girls’ Track and Field continues CIF Finals competition Saturday May 22nd at Cerritos College. The Lady Cougars are lead by sophomore Gianna Lowery, Orange County’s all-time leader in the 200 meter run, who will compete in the 100, 200 and 4×100 relay. Additional competitors on the
4×100 relay team are Alex Kruthers, Gianna Lowery, Anne Hinman, Holly Reik, and Kelly Skvarna. Boys’ track athlete, Jonathan Brady, will also compete as an alternate in the 400 meter race.
