Superintendent to Host Forums
Opportunity for Questions, Feedback for Superintendent
Superintendent Joe Farley will hold three forums in the 2012-2013 school year where parents and members of the community can ask questions and provide feedback on their local schools, it was announced this week. The forums have become standard events during Farley’s tenure as superintendent, with six during his first year and three in his second. The dates and locations of the meetings are:Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the Aliso Niguel High School Theater; Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the Dana Hills High School Porthole Theater; and Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the Capistrano Valley High School Mall. Shorecliffs Group Holds Fall Event
The Shorecliffs Middle School Educational Foundation will hold its fourth annual Living Coastal fall event on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Irons in the Fire, 150 E. Ave. Magdalena, San Clemente. For the second consecutive year, an offensive lineman from San Clemente High School has been selected to play in an All-American football game. Sean Harlow, a senior on the football team who has committed to the University of Washington, is one of 100 high school seniors selected to play in the 2013 JuniorRank Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Home Depot Center in Carson. Last year, Kyle Murphy was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The CARE4kids run/walk will take place on Saturday, October 13 at Aliso Viejo Middle School in Aliso Viejo at 8 a.m. This special event for adults and children support the CARE Foundation. The mission of the CARE Foundation is to strengthen education opportunities for all children in the Capistrano Unified School District community and to build a brighter future for the region. Participants in the run/walk can choose to join one of three races: 10K, 5K or 1K (for children 10 and under). Advance registration is strongly recommended for this event. Preschool Assessment Center Grand Opening Next Week
Center Offers Friendly Environment for Children
The District’s Preschool Assessment Center (PAC) will celebrate its opening on Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Crown Valley Elementary School, 29292 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel. Serving 500-600 new families each year, the PAC is designed to provide preschool-aged children a friendly, warm, and welcoming environment while students and their families participate in initial student study team meetings, assessment planning, and individual education programming for special education. Capo Valley Foundation Hosts Annual Taste of Capo Event

The Capistrano Valley High School Foundation will host its third annual Taste of Capo event on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012. Proceeds will support the CVHS Foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience for all CVHS students. The event will take place in the school’s mall from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 ($15 for students under 19) until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17. After 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, tickets will be $25. Taste of Capo will feature samples of the best dishes from 20 local restaurants, shop at local merchant tables, participate in the silent auction, and listen to the music of recording artist Jerry McFarland and talented CVHS students.
