Aliso Niguel HS Basketball Team Scores Donations
The high school basketball season may not start until December, but the players at Aliso Niguel High School are already making an impact. Socks from Jocks, the philanthropic arm of the boys’ basketball team, recently donated nearly 3,000 pounds of food to the Orange County Rescue Mission, ensuring that nearly 6,000 additional meals will get served this winter. Started in 2005 by students Harry Meussner and Connor Crabtree, Socks from Jocks, has collected more than $15,000 in food and clothes for the Rescue Mission. Now that Harry Meussner and Connor Crabtree have moved on to college, Socks from Jocks is being led by Jimmy Meussner, Harry Meussner’s younger brother.

District’s Winter Fine Arts Calendar Released
Capistrano Unified School District students will showcase their creative talents at 68 different events during the months of November, December and January. A record 1,372 projects were submitted in the Siemens Competition. Kim is one of 312 students who were named semifinalists; 94 were named regional finalists. This isn’t the first national honor Kim has received for his academic work. In September, he was also named a National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalist.

Students, staff, parents and community members gathered last week to celebrate R.H. Dana Elementary School’s National Blue Ribbon Award. R.H. More than a dozen students who overcame personal and academic challenges received their diplomas from Junipero Serra High School on Friday in a ceremony in which teachers honored the graduates by telling stories of their commitment to succeed.
