Carl Hankey raises $44,692 at Hawk Trot – Go Turkeys! Oops…I mean Go Hawks!

Date:

Hello Hankey Families and Hawks!

Carl Hankey raises $44,692 at Hawk Trot
Congratulations again Hankey Hawks for your incredible fundraising efforts for last week’s 2nd annual Hawk Trot! We raised $22,346, which our friends at BP matched dollar-for-dollar for a grand total of $44,692! Special thanks to BP runners Diane Holman, Danielle Rodriguez, Jason Tate, Jay Fleck and Scott Bond.

These crucial funds support our IB program and are allocated in the following way:
• $20,000 in yearly program fees for both schools. This gets us access to IB materials, access to staff development programs and pays for school site reviews
• $9,000 for IB Conferences and teacher staff development
• $3,000 Art Masters
• $3,000 for the middle school technology curriculum
• $10,000 for curriculum writers and grade/ dept. team coaching
A reporter for the Orange County Register covered our event and here is the link:

New Carl Hankey School Foundation
We are in the process of creating a foundation to manage and help provide financial support and enrichment programs for our students. Following the creation of The Carl Hankey International Education Foundation we will all select officers to serve on the Foundation committee. Please consider volunteering your time and talents to this important cause. The Foundation should be up and running by June 2011.

Tell your friends
Our IB open house will be Wed., Feb. 9 from 7-8:30, when we’ll share information about what IB is and how it differs from other schools. We’ll also have a Q&A period to address any specific questions. Please tell your neighbors and friends to mark their calendars and plan to attend. Open-enrollment starts in February, and we want to get the word out. We have a lot of great news to share.

Thanksgiving break
Remember that we are out of school for Thanksgiving break Mon.-Fri., Nov. 22-26. We’ll see you all back here Mon., Nov. 29.

We all have a lot to be thankful for!

Go Turkeys! Oops…I mean Go Hawks!
