TEAM WOMEN Dana Point IS BACK!

Greetings!

Team Women Dana Point Chapter meeting is Monday, March 2nd @ noon at the Aegis of Dana Point.

Team Women is the fastest growing women-only business networking organization in all of North America. We all know that face-to-face networking is the most effective method for gaining new customers and increasing sales. Now, Team Women has taken this time-tested truth and created something new and exciting for women just like you with the added benefits of building self-confidence and forming lasting relationships.

Team Women is a “personal” organization where everyone has a voice and where new ideas are always encouraged. With Team Women, we have taken the rigidity out of networking by adding a healthy dose of fun, spontaneity, and trust. I have every confidence you will enjoy building your business with Team Women!

Each chapter meets for one hour every other week and is limited to a maximum of thirty members. Only one member per core profession may join; for example, one realtor, one financial services professional, one lawyer, one graphic artist, one skin care consultant etc. This is to enhance the support and referrals received by each member and to make each woman “the expert” in their field. You are encouraged to invite any great business women you think would be interested in joining us.

Please RSVP to thebodymakeovercoach@cox.net or call 949.554.5003 if you are planning to attend. You may attend two meetings before committing to join. Looking forward to meeting you and please let me know if you have any questions.

“Wacky” Vacations

Oprah.com Recommends
LEGOLAND® California
Family Theme Park Listed on
Oprah.com List of “Wacky” Vacations

CARLSBAD, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2009) – The popular website Oprah.com is listing LEGOLAND® California as one of eight “Wacky Family Attractions” in a feature designed to encourage families to vacation closer to home this year “when time and money are in short supply.”

“During this rough economy it’s good to know parents are still investing in quality time with their children, especially those ages 2 to 12 since that time is so precious,” said General Manager of LEGOLAND California Resort Peter Ronchetti. “Being called ‘wacky’ is actually quite the compliment during a time when anything ‘normal’ is considered boring by most kids!”

Oprah.com is one of the 2,000 most-visited websites on the Internet. The article includes a photo of the popular ride, Coast Cruise, and a brief description of the family theme park in Carlsbad.

This honor comes as LEGOLAND celebrates its 10th birthday. LEGOLAND California opened on March 20, 1999. Since then, the interactive theme park geared towards children ages 2 to 12 has doubled its ride amount and now boasts nearly 60 rides, shows and attractions. Voted Best Children’s Park five years in a row by “Amusement Today”, LEGOLAND continues to grow adding 14 new attractions in the last four years alone with more to come! For more information, visit www.LEGOLAND.com .

LEGOLAND California is one of eight family attractions recommended on Oprah’s list. Other attractions listed include Holiday World in Indiana, Dinosaur Valley State Park in Texas and Gatorland in Florida.

LEGOLAND® California is a 128-acre interactive theme park dedicated to families with children between the ages of 2 and 12. With more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, LEGOLAND is geared towards family fun! There are three other LEGOLAND Parks in the world – LEGOLAND Billund in Denmark, LEGOLAND Deutschland near Günzburg, Germany and LEGOLAND Windsor outside of London. The LEGOLAND theme parks are a part of Merlin Entertainments Group, the second largest attractions operator in the world. Merlin Entertainments is the leading name in location based, branded, family entertainment and currently owns more than 50 attractions worldwide serving 33 million visitors worldwide. Host a Foreign Exchange Student

Loving Families Needed

Have you been wondering how you can volunteer in your community but you have limited time? Host a Foreign Exchange Student! This is a great way to serve the world community and promote cultural understanding.

– New students from all over the world need host families for the 2009-10’ school year.
-Students are ages 15-18 and attend local high schools for a semester or full academic year.
-Host Families get to choose their student from our website – choose gender, country of origin, and filter based on activities and interests.
-Host Families provide shelter, basic food and loving support. The students have their own spending money for all other expenses and their own insurance.
-Local support is provided as an academic coordinator will serve as a liaison between the family, the student and the school.
This is an intimate cultural exchange that creates a lifelong curiosity about other cultures within your own family. While you are fulfilling the wish of a child from abroad – to be part of a real American family – you may find the true fulfillment within your own experience.

Many host families travel abroad later in life to visit their “kids” and maintain a lifelong relationship with that student and their families.
American families come in all colors, shapes and sizes. We need families with kids, empty-nesters, even single parents are encouraged to apply. Be part of the change and reach out to build a bridge to a new America.

OC Couple Will Receive Rebate For Installing Photovoltaic System

SANTA ANA, CA., February 18, 2009 – DJH Construction, Inc.,

an Orange County based solar
integration company, announced the completion of a 19.44 kW residential solar photovoltaic
project in Santa Ana, California.

This project is an excellent example of how DJH Construction,
Inc. leveraged it’s unique engineering and design capabilities to coordinate the planning and
management of this complex installation.
The 19.44 kW solar system was completed in January of 2009 on the residence of Jeremy and
Sandy Kaslow. The photovoltaic system ties together a total of 90 photovoltaic panels onto over
1,530 square feet of roof space. The estimated annual production of this solar system is 29,144
kWh, providing almost 100% of the Kaslow’s electrical usage. The environmental impact of this
system is a reduction in green house gas emissions by 500 tons of CO2 over the life of the system
(25+ years). The reduction in green house gas emissions is equivalent to planting 19,996 trees or
driving 1,694,576 miles in a small car. In addition to the utility savings, the Kaslow’s will
receive a rebate check from their utility company and a 30% tax credit.

“We are pleased to
provide a quality installation to our clients and assist them in taking advantage of incentives that
will provide long-term financial benefits,” said, Don Harris, President of DJH Construction, Inc.
Continued support on the Federal and State level for solar will help facilitate integrating
renewable energy solutions on more homes and businesses. On February 17, 2009, President
Obama signed into legislation the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act – a stimulus bill that
proposes to provide additional incentives to those seeking to invest in renewable energy. A key
highlight to the recovery bill is the renewable energy grant that provides grants equal to 30
percent of the cost of the solar system. This program will be administered by the Department of
the Treasury and is in lieu of the section 48 investment tax credit. In a recent interview, Harrissaid, “We are excited that the solar provisions in the stimulus bill will pave the way for the
United States to become a leader in incorporating solar energy as a standard. This bill will help
fuel the economy with jobs and growth amid the economic downturn. We look forward to the
changes and are grateful to be a part of this rapidly growing industry.”
DJH Construction, Inc., headquartered in Laguna Niguel, CA, is a leading integrator of solar
electric power systems. Founded in 1995 as a general construction company, the company
expanded its expertise to incorporate green building solutions and solar photovoltaic installations.
DJH Construction, Inc.’s experience spans more than eighteen years in the planning and design of
both residential and commercial construction and photovoltaic solar projects. DJH Construction,
Inc. is a California licensed General Contractor (B) and a licensed solar contractor (C-46) License
# 743368. For more information, please visit DJH Construction Inc.’s website at

St. Patrick is one of America’s favorite saints. But what is the story of his faith journey and what is the real relevance of the shamrock to our Catholic Christianity? Come join The Men’s Forum next Saturday, March 7th from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. in the Lower Hall for breakfast, faith development, and the answers to these questions and more. “Irishmen for the day” Joe Orsak (O’Rsak that weekend) and Mike Kleine, will lead the discussion. All men of the parish are invited to stop by and wear their green and meet other men working to apply their faith in today’s world. First-timer? We’ll pop for your breakfast. Questions or comments can be directed to rich_giska@hotmail.com.

We always endeavor to honor and protect your privacy… In the advertising world, addresses, phone numbers and assorted internet connections are the coin of the realm. When involved in assorted Church outreaches and ministries, the use of personal information garnered through phone and e-mail lists for personal benefit or personal business is wrong and a violation of parishioner’s privacy. However tempting it might be…it is an ethical breach to use ministerial listings for private, personal or business endeavors (which is one of the reasons we do not list anyone’s phone number in the Parish Directory!)

For those of you who have expressed concern as to whether the Parish of Corpus Christi supports or endorses those who make private appeals or sales pitches to you via information gained from ministry listings….the answer is a resounding NO! If a business or outreach is endorsed by the parish, you will read about it in the Bulletin…and you will never receive a cold-call from them, we always leave contact choices to YOU! So, unfortunately as is true in the rest of life, if you get a message or a pitch from someone or group identifying themselves as being from Corpus Christi and trying to get jobs or money from you….let the buyer BEWARE! You can always call FKB at 389-9011 to see if we have truly endorsed or recommended someone (or something.) Thanks.

After all these years of tempting fate….we are going indoors! While the rainy skies threatened, last week’s DRY Food Fair was an exception to our recent track-record of events being rained upon. The Wine and Food Festival, our Parish Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Eve and Day…while much needed for our drought conditions, the rain has played havoc with set-up plans and over-flow crowd placement. Looking ahead to our traditional outdoor Easter Masses…we have continually rolled the dice and more or less come up with rain-less days…some of them have been scorchingly hot, others have been frigidly cold…but at least it has not rained. Thinking that the recent record of ‘rained-on’ events might be strategic warning signs, this year our Easter Sunday Masses will be at the SAME TIME AS THE USUAL SUNDAY MASSES (8, 10 and 12 Noon) and will be hosted INDOORS, within the Grand Hall, with about 700 additional chairs positioned outside on the concrete patio. In the past we have set-up 1700 chairs outdoors for the two Easter Masses….with no realistic back-up in case of rain to handle that crush of people. Thus, by increasing our Easter morning Masses to the usual three and by insuring that a substantial number of participants will be indoors, we think we have our bases covered. Those that want to enjoy the outdoors, can still sit outside…but if drops are falling, we will just all get cozy within this year’s INDOOR EASTER Masses.

Classes will be taught by Shawn Wehan (Coordinator of Adult Faith Formation) and will run for a total of five weeks.

Bring a friend! A $4 donation towards breakfast is appreciated.

Our Mardi Gras Food Fair was a TREMENDOUS success, generating not only over $5,000 in profit for the Building Fund but also delighting our taste buds with cuisine from far and wide. Our great thanks go to Tim Moran for organizing, overseeing, cheerleading and shepherding the whole event…considering how old he is, Tim did a WONDERFUL job! The overall ease of the weekend was insured by Marc Jordan who set up all the awnings and got the tables and barbeques set out….thanks Marc! Mayette Ramos (+the Filipino Community), Terry Drake (+Hospitality volunteers), Mira Johnson, Mary Kopinski, Linda Johnson, Sandy Moran, Patti Fisher (+Heartprints women), Jonathan Kim (+Music Ministry), Scotty Eisenbart (+ HAVEN Youth Leaders), Marc Jordan and Jay Arcemont…plus the many runners and volunteers….THANK YOU for providing us with a delicious send-off into Lent!

This weekend, Bishop Tod presided at the Rite of Election, the official ritual by which those who have been in preparation for full acceptance into the Roman Catholic Church are ‘officially’ embraced by the Church into these final weeks of Lenten preparation. Here at Corpus Christi, it is our pleasure to welcome the following Candidates (those who are baptized but presently part of a different Christian denomination): Su Barker , Jennifer Poston and the following Catechumens (those who have never been baptized and will receive full initiation into the Roman Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil liturgy on Holy Saturday, April 11): Irma “Leticia” Owens, James Owens, Lydia Laboa, Debbie Kvochak, Jennifer Hendricks. Please keep them and their families in your prayers during these days of final reflection and preparation
Please remember NEXT SATURDAY night to set your clocks AHEAD one hour when you go to bed….because DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME returns on Sunday, March 8th. Yay….that means summer can’t be too far away!
