Fire in Laguna Niguel

Did you see fire engines last night? This is why:

LAGUNA NIGUEL – September 30, 2008. Six fire engines, two helicopters and a hand crew under the command of Battalion Chief Jon Jones responded to a hillside vegetation fire near Alicia x Aliso Creek Rd. in Laguna Niguel this evening. The blaze was reported via 9-1-1 at 6:08 p.m., and the Orange County Fire Authority was assisted by units from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the Orange County Parks Department.

OCFA Engine 57 arrived on scene and reported a “one acre fire burning up the hill from the Laguna Niguel Regional Park.” OCFA crews contained the fire by 6:41 p.m. No structures were damaged, no injures were reported, and no homes were threatened. The fire remains under investigation.

Green areas, known as fuel modification zones are maintained between homes and dry vegetation. These zones can help slow a wildfire’s progress. This is a good time to ensure that all dry vegetation and tree limbs are removed from your yard.
