CUSD SCHOOL BOARD HIRES SUPERINTENDENT
The CUSD Board of Trustees voted at Tuesday’s board meeting to hire Dr. Joseph Farley as CUSD’s superintendent. Dr. Farley will assume his new role on July 1, 2010. Welcome to Capistrano Unified, Dr. Farley.
ARE YOU RETURNING TO CVES NEXT YEAR?
The CVES staff is looking towards next year and thinking about appropriate student/teacher placements. Your child brought home a letter requesting information about your plans. Please complete the bottom of the letter and return it to your child’s teacher. This information will help us determine staffing for the 2010-11 school year. Please down load another copy of the letter from the CVES website.
GARDEN ISSUES
The CVES garden is an outdoor instructional classroom used for curriculum. The community is free to visit the garden when it is not being used by the students. However, we request that items (vegetables, plants and other materials) not be removed from this location. There have been two reported cases of vegetables being taken. The students use the plants for for science, math and nutrition activities and very disappointed when their hard work is stolen or destroyed. Thank you for your support on the matter.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
The CVES students are strengthening their muscles and their hearts while they prepare for the Jump Rope for Heart Event Friday, March 14, 1:00-2:00 on the primary playground. Parents are invited to join their child for this energetic and fun filled activity. Kindergarten students are invited to return with their parents, as well. All donations go directly to the American Heart Association; this is not a CV PTA fundraising event. Please access a flyer on the CV website under the Crown Valley News tab.
2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDARS
The 2010-2011 school year calendars can be accessed from the Crown Valley website, under the QUICK LINKS tab located on the lower left of the home page. The calendars have been updated to include the furlough days. You can also access the Crown Valley Quick Reference Calendar in the same area.
NOT TOO LATE TO PURCHASE A YEAR BOOK

KONA ICE WILL RETURN
The Kona Ice truck will return to Crown Valley, but not until Thursday, May 20. Kona Ice will also be on site Thursday, June 10.
4th AND 5th GRADE SPRING CONCERTS
Crown Valley 4th and 5th graders instrumental students will take part in the 2010 Spring Concerts being held at CVHS on Monday June 7. Please access the CVES website under the CROWN VALLEY NEWS tab for more information and down load a flyer.
CHILD SAFETY FAIR
First Bank will be hosting the 10th Annual Child Safety Fair on Saturday, May 15, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The event will be held at the Center at Rancho Niguel, First Bank parking lot; Greenfield and Rancho Niguel Rd. Please click here for more information.
NIGUEL HILLS MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS
Niguel Hills PTSA is offering a service program to parents for the 2010-11 School Year for purchasing “Back-to-School” Supply Packs (incoming 6th and 7th graders). Capistrano district hires Anaheim superintendent as schools chief
Capistrano Unified trustees on Tuesday hired Joseph Farley, the superintendent of Anaheim’s 33,700-student high school district, to replace their outgoing interim schools chief – a decision many hope will quell mounting community distrust and dissent in Orange County’s second-largest school district. Farley, 59, will be responsible for managing 56 schools and an annual budget of about $372 million. He will assume the post July 1.
