Coast Hills Community Church Recruits Over 900 Volunteers To Prepare and Pack Meals For Haiti

On Easter weekend with approximately 3,500 people in attendance at one of five services, Coast Hills Community Church of Aliso Viejo announced that it had purchased 60,000 meals for children in Haiti using the offerings of the church family. The only request was that families sign-up to help prepare and pack those meals in the month of June. The church needed more than 400 volunteers.

In an overwhelming response, more than 900 adults, teenagers and kids volunteered two hours of their time to pack meals on June 11 as part of the church’s Love Your Neighbor Initiative. Seeing the response from the church family, the church leadership team comprised of both staff and volunteers approved purchasing another 50,000 meals bringing the total to 110,000 meals.

In partnership with the non-profit Kids Around The World, Coast Hills is hoping to share the love of God with their neighbors both here in Orange County and around the world. In the month of June, the church is committing all the offerings they collect toward Care and Outreach ministries which include serving locally through two food pantries, a homeless initiative, juvenile hall and prison ministries; globally serving people in Malawi, Ethiopia, Japan, Myanmar, Haiti and Mexico; and supporting thousands of it’s own church family through weddings, funerals, visitation, benevolence and pastoral care.

“We want to remind people about the ‘community’ in Coast Hills Community Church. We’re committing in the month of June to take that to the next level. This is what happens when a group of people come together to passionately follow Jesus,” says Todd Gorton, Pastor, Communication & Worship Arts.

Coast Hills Community Church is in Aliso Viejo, California and last year celebrated its 25th Anniversary. Over the past 25 years, thousands of families have found hope and had a chance to return the favor. The church holds weekend services every Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 9am and 11am and a MidWeek program for kids birth through Jr. High alongside an adult Bible Study.
