City of Aliso Veijo: Garcia to serve as Mayor, Phillips as Mayor Pro Tem

When the City Council reconvenes after the holidays on Jan. 4, Donald Garcia will serve as mayor and Bill Phillips as mayor pro tem.

The council members were selected to serve in the one-year posts by their colleagues during the City Council’s annual reorganization Wednesday.

This will be the second mayoral stint for Garcia, who has served this year as mayor pro tem. He served as mayor in 2009. Phillips served as mayor in 2004 and 2008. He would assume the duties of the mayor in his absence.

Carmen Cave, who has served the city of Aliso Viejo as mayor this year, will be recognized as outgoing mayor on Jan. 4.

The City Council meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of the month in Council Chambers at City Hall, 12 Journey. The Dec. 21 meeting is canceled due to the holidays.
