The City Council on Wednesday will consider cost-sharing agreements with the Aliso Viejo Little League and Aliso Viejo Girls Softball for park improvements that will benefit local youth.
The improvements entail adding new shade structures at Woodfield Park and Aliso Viejo Community Park, which are recreation facilities that are mostly used by the Little League and Girls Softball.
The city would cover 75 percent of the costs, which include $135,542.25 for structures at Woodfield and $69,915 at Aliso Viejo Community Park. The Aliso Viejo Little League and Aliso Viejo Girls Softball would reimburse the city with 25 percent of the costs, respectively. The city is partnering with the Aliso Viejo Community Association, which owns the parks and will oversee these projects.
The cost-sharing agreements are part of several community improvements the City Council recently approved at local parks to benefit Aliso Viejo’s youth. The improvements stem from an extensive effort by the city’s Recreation Ad Hoc Committee, led by Mayor Pro Tem Donald Garcia and Council Member Phillip Tsunoda.
The City Council meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 12 Journey. The full agenda is available at www.cityofalisoviejo.com.
