Civil Air Patrol Squadron 150th held a Promotion and Awards ceremony for two members who both are residents of Aliso Viejo, CA

Long Beach Civil Air Patrol Squadron 150 Promotions and Awards

On Thursday evening December 12,  Long Beach Senior Squadron 150, Civil Air Patrol CAWG-343 Group 7, promoted 1st Lt. Lloyd P. Bumanglag to the grade of Captain,  and Al Valenciano to the grade of 2nd Lt.

Captain Bumanglag is the squadron’s Public Affairs Officer (PAO), who resides in Aliso Viejo CA, and is active with serving his community.

“Serving in CAP, we give a piece of ourselves, and we decide to construct our character through leadership actions, integrity, excellence and respect,” he said.

Also residing in Aliso Viejo, CA  is 2nd Lt. Valenciano who is the squadron’s Personnel Officer.

Civil Air Patrol is an opportunity to have a personal effect on the community in times of crisis or need as well as outside of them, “  he said.

Following the promotion ceremony, three Officers of the Long Beach Senior Squadron 150 were recognized for dedicating themselves to leadership and personal development in the Civil Air Patrol. Lt. Colonel Robert Calderone South Coast Group 7 Commander presented the awards to Major Gardner L. Harris with the Commander’s Commendation Award of Outstanding Duty Performance.

Major Harris  serves as Group 7 Director of Communication.  Captain Daniel Hoppy who is Group 7 Safety Officer, and 2nd Lt. James W. Grubb who is the Operations Officer were both awarded the Achievement Award for Outstanding Duty Performance.

CAP, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with more than 60,000 members nationwide. CAP volunteers perform 95 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) and also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counterdrug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies.

Members take a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the almost 25,000 young people currently participating in the CAP Cadet Program. CAP’s cadet programs provide young men and women with a safe and motivating environment in which to grow and explore opportunities in the military and aviation industries.
