The second annual First Saturday Men’s Fellowship is encouraging all men of the parish to register for the two-night “Am I What I Do?” fall retreat Friday-Sunday, September 10-12 at San Clemente State Beach Campground. The program will focus on the one relationship – Jesus Christ – the promises enduring fulfillment. The group will discuss how this relationship transcends the things that we do in our careers and our daily lives away from work. The cost is $50, which includes all five meals, and camping fees Men are asked to supply their own sleeping bags and tents can be provided upon request. Saturday night mass will be celebrated by Father Fred. Please see members of the First Saturday Men’s Fellowship this Sunday after all masses or contact Brian Brassil at misterb50@gmail.com or 949-212-5994.

For all our new volunteers who sign up to participate within ANY of our Corpus Christi ministries, outreaches or social organizations, please make sure you complete your fingerprinting and Safe Environment Training (SET) (which is conveniently done on-line) so that you can be added as an active volunteer within any/all activities in our parish. Corpus Christi has a policy of full-fingerprinting and SET for all our volunteers…it is an easy and convenieint first step to providing a modicum of discrete review and safety for our parish family. To get the process started or for any confusions or questions, please send your inquiries to Dea DelRosario at: Safeenvironment@Corpuschristialisoviejo.org.

A whole lot of searching and interviewing has been occurring….and yes, it is bearing VERY good fruit!

Keeping everyone in the loop is always a fruitful effort…and for the last few weeks we have been conducting a rather extensive invitation, review and interview process of candidates for our Coordinator of Faith Formation for Children and Families. We have availed of Diocesan Departments of Human Resources, Faith Formation, Religious Education and Youth and Young Adult Ministry. We received some valuable input from the local parishes, the pastor’s of which were asked for their referrals. We contacted the assorted local Catholic Schools and even the Jesuit Community of Loyola Marymount Early in the process I invited seven parishioners, inclusive of a member of our HAVEN Youth (who end up working closely with the Faith Formation of Children and Parents overall efforts) to assist in the Review process. Their input and discernments have been wise and they have added their own suggestions about potential candidates for the job. In the end, we/I reviewed the applications/material/possibilities of 25 persons. For those of you who handle the interviewing process for your companies, it is akin to a series of blind dates, you never know what is going to come of the interaction.

We have been searching for an energetic and creative individual who has a strong grasp of Roman Catholic-Christianity, has a spirit of joy in their endeavors and is comfortable/familiar working with both children and adults/parents within a parish setting. An embrace of OUR parish approach to Faith Formation was essential as well as a willingness to immerse themselves within our community and understand who we are and why we do things the way we do. The Review Committee was kept apprised of each potential applicant, and this past week we convened the entire Committee to have an actual sit-down interview with one of the applicants who had emerged from the initial review conversations as offering fresh energy and lively potential. Final details are still being negotiated thus no name for you this week…but in weeks to come I look forward to introducing you to the individual who will continue our parish tradition of lively, dynamic and creative Faith Formation. Thanks for your patience. FKB

Don’t scrimp on SCRIP…..With so many of our sons and daughters heading off to College and University….SCRIP makes a perfect gift that keeps on giving….and offers the security of knowing they will use it specifically in the stores to which it is directed! Also…Labor Day picnics (and hostess gifts) are right around the corner.,…once again, our SCRIP ministry has you covered with everything from grocery stores, restaurants to movie tickets and assorted specialty stores. (Let’s not forget a thoughtful gift to the new teachers your younger ones may be having as they progress in grades…why wait till Christmas or the end of the year!!
