Networking and Employment Transition Support (NETS) Ministry
“Give first, give often, expect nothing.” This is networking at its best. Have you attended networking events that feel more like speed dating? Are you tired of hearing elevator speeches without making a real connection? Well, you are in for a treat! For NETS presenter, Ken Tudhope, networking is everything. As Founder and CEO of Project Pro Search, one of the most successful accounting and finance recruiting firms in Orange County, Ken Tudhope is THE connection for placement in the field. He is a licensed and active CPA and CMA, but his true gift and passion is building strong business relationships to benefit both companies needing finance specialists, as well as accounting professionals seeking a perfectly matched job for their skill set. Ken knows absolutely everyone in Orange County in his field because of his dedication to effective networking. His method is simple, constant, and easy to emulate. He knows people because he listens, connects, and finds common ground. As a result of the connections he makes, businesses hire and people find jobs. Ken’s considerable networking expertise, combined with his warm and engaging personality, promises an exciting and empowering presentation, entitled: “Finding a Job Through Expansive Networking: Building Connections One Person at a Time”. Join us on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Please RSVP by contacting Ed Jordan at ejordan@noletspirits.com or 949-389-1715

Some thoughts to Lent by…..
While we still have a few hours of the President’s Holiday to enjoy (remember when Lincoln and Washington used to be celebrated individually???), this ASH Wednesday ushers us into Lent. Amid the turbulence life throws at us, Lent is not meant to be an added burden but a luxuriant opportunity to, with leisure, reflect upon and more closely look at the choices we are making, the direction of our lives…and most importantly, the condition of our relationship with the person of Jesus. It is easy to become distracted or engulfed by whatever issues consume the social and religious commentations filling the news. This being an election year, passions are running high, as are the labels and implied urgencies of jumping on this or that bandwagon. While all appropriate for our public dialogue, what can become lost is our focus on, and centrality of, the personal, private relationship/connection between our individual souls and our creator. Our distraction from this central strength can cause us to become spiritually exhausted, physically spent, sometimes even experiencing despair or hopelessness. Politics come and go, as do hot-button issues …Lent is our opportunity to make sure we are not defining ourselves simply as part of a ‘religion’ or political effort/social cause, but as God’s unique son or daughter. That is the root of Lent, not whether we are good Roman Catholics, but are we secure and alive within our relationship with God as his child, as someone for whom he will do anything and everything? Viewing all the dusty traditions and rituals of the season through these lenses can transform them from dismal/guilt-inducing chores into opportunities for conversations between God and us. (And not conversations to make us feel bad or simply beat us up…but conversations to lift us up and call us home to his heart….) Within our Lenten conversations, this year especially, let us strive to calm ourselves from the media frenzies and public distractions so as to engage God in conversation and hear, softly but with great strength, God’s whispered reassurance, even as we face our crosses, ALL WILL BE WELL. Love, FKB

On Wednesday….
WEDNESDAY….February 22nd – ASH WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE
A particularly Catholic-Christian ritual, the placing of ashes on our foreheads in the rough shape of a cross, is scripturally inspired. It is meant to call to mind the references to Old Testament repentances of putting on ‘sackcloth and ashes’ as a way of externalizing our internal disposition. Our Simple Ash Services will commence at 4:00 a.m. for those who commute and need to get on the road. This will be followed by Services at 5:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m. and a Mass at 8:00 a.m. and then a final Simple Ash Service at 10:00 a.m. If anyone needs to receive ashes prior to 4:00 a.m. ….simply call Fr. Fred (389-9011) on Tuesday morning (February 21st) to arrange a meeting at the Church anytime after Midnight, February 22nd.
And finally, on Thursday….
Corpus Christi DINER’s NIGHT at The ELEPHANT BAR….
Ash Wednesday (February 22), with it’s FASTING and abstaining from meat can be tough….especially when followed in two days by the FIRST FRIDAY of LENT (February 24th) when AGAIN we abstain from meat…but this year WE HAVE YOU COVERED…with a perfect solution….Corpus Christi Diner’s Night at the Elephant Bar Restaurant in the Laguna Hills Mall on THURSDAY, February 23rd. A perfect opportunity to re-nourish from the heavy fasting the day before…and eat your fill of meat before the Lenten Friday abstaining from tasty burgers, bacon and roasts! Oh…and did we mention that they will be providing a 20% rebate to our Corpus Christi Building Fund on all the food you purchase (but not the alcohol, so go light!)
