The Cove is an artist-owned Gallery featuring 13 accomplished Laguna Beach area artists specializing in plein air, landscapes, still life, portraits, classic figurative work, contemporary and Abstracts, mixed media and even Asian-influenced art. Beautiful original art in all mediums; oils, acrylics, watercolor, and mixed media, is presented in an ever changing exhibition with the artists there for you to meet and enjoy.
The Cove Gallery, a Laguna Beach original art gallery, has been drawing fine art lovers since 1973. The Cove Gallery is steps away from the Surf & Sand Resort in the ART CENTER at 1492 South Coast Highway.
Our Story
In a modest 10×10 space at 1492 South Coast Highway, in 1972 Mabel Speciale opened her own gallery to showcase her own work. The gallery was given her namesake – The Mabel Speciale Gallery.
One year later, when the buildings were remodeled at that location, Mabel moved her gallery to a larger space and invited other local artists to showcase their work alongside hers. Only watercolor paintings were featured. It was this time in 1973 the gallery received it current name of the Cove Gallery.
Around 1992 the group of fifteen artists displaying their work, formed a partnership to purchase the gallery from Mabel who retired.
Just a few years ago, the partners introduced other mediums outside of watercolor work. Today acrylic, oil and watercolor paintings adorn the walls.
In June of 2007, the Cove Gallery moved to its present location at 1492 #8 South Coast Highway.

The COVE Gallery Laguna is open daily, except Tuesdays, from 11 to 5 p.m. *Join us for the monthly First Thursday Artwalk, 6-9 pm. Meet the artists while enjoying fine wines and hors d’oeuvres.* Please check the website for other special events throughout the year.
